Chapter Summaries

After Kingpin's death sparked a gang war, Ben focused H.A.M.M.E.R. on securing Vibranium through negotiations with Wakanda. T'Chaka and T'Challa visited H.A.M.M.E.R.'s Helicarrier, where T'Challa was surprised by its mix of outdated and advanced designs.

• The Hand and other criminal groups fought over Kingpin's territory, overwhelming Matt and Peter as Steve and Bucky joined the effort.
• Felicia worked to subdue criminals and recruited followers while using kisses to summon Hacker through Ben.
• H.A.M.M.E.R. captured Ulysses Klaue, and Ben decided to hand him over to Wakanda as a basis for negotiating over Vibranium.

The heroes infiltrated a giant Chitauri beast while the battle in space grew increasingly desperate. With Tony’s armor badly damaged and the Iron Warriors losing ground, he activated the Four Arms Buster Armor as Venom also charged into space.

• Steve, Natasha, Peter, and T’Challa infiltrated the giant Chitauri beast, while Tony, Rhodey, Falcon, and Barton remained outside to draw enemy fire.
• Eunice scanned the beast and guided the infiltrators toward the control room, while Natasha headed for its hatchery to destroy the source of the Chitauri Soldiers.

Peter and the heroes struggled against War Lord and the Chitauri while Ben prepared to activate the Cosmic Cube’s protective barrier. As the battle lines retreated toward Earth, Loki appeared at the satellite and warned Ben that activating the Tesseract would trigger Thanos’s trap.

• Peter, Captain America, and T’Challa freed themselves, but War Lord escaped Peter’s Silk and unleashed a devastating axe strike that tore open the Chitauri Beast and apparently swept the three heroes into space.
• Peter survived by bonding with Venom, and T’Challa revealed that he had rescued Captain America and found armor for them both.
• Ben finished cracking the Cosmic Cube’s program and told Tony he would activate the barrier once the heroes retreated, intending to use it to cut the Chitauri Beast in half.

• Loki told Bant that Supergiant had learned how to open the Tesseract gateway from the far side and that Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive had gone to capture Looma.
• Looma sent Bant a distress signal from Jotunheim, where she was fighting Proxima Midnight, Corvus Glaive, and giants.
• Caiera told Bant that Sakaar was under attack and its fleet was being trapped, but that Sakaar could withstand the assault.
• Bant ordered Loki to open a passage to Jotunheim, refusing Loki's suggestion that he abandon Looma and remain to protect Earth.
• Bant pointed out that Loki could defend Earth, then handed him the Casket of Ancient Winters and the Cosmic Cube and urged him to become a savior like Bant had on Sakaar.

Ben entrusted Loki with the Cosmic Cube and the Casket of Ancient Winters, urging him to become a hero rather than seek a hammer’s approval. Loki activated the Planetary Shield, which cut the Chitauri Beast in half, but the War Lord and the Black Order remained threats as the real battle began.

• The War Lord plummeted toward Manhattan as Tony headed for Avengers Tower to retrieve the Mark 4 and Mark 5 suits and asked the others to find Connors.
• Loki pretended to accept Ebony Maw’s offer, then transformed the Tesseract into the Casket of Ancient Winters and escaped through a portal, declaring that he served only the King of Sakaar.

• Peter learned that Venom was a Symbiote, then survived a devastating punch from War Lord when Venom repaired his injuries.
• War Lord nearly killed Tony and Captain America, but Winter Soldier rescued them, and the heroes renewed their attack despite suffering severe injuries.
• Connors said the cold had left him unable to fight, but Hulk arrived, and Peter and T'Challa pinned War Lord down so Hulk could smash his head.

Loki chose to face Ebony Maw rather than flee, but Thor took the icy blades meant for him. As Thor fell, lightning and a silver hammer answered Loki, who transformed into Thor Loki.

• After the War Lord died, the exhausted Avengers turned their attention to Loki’s fight against Ebony Maw and Supergiant.

• Hulk defeated War Lord and overwhelmed Supergiant and Black Dwarf, preventing them from supporting Ebony Maw.

• Ebony Maw sensed Supergiant had driven Hulk into a destructive frenzy and became greedy for the Mind Stone.
• Loki shattered the prison formed by the Cosmic Cube and confronted Ebony Maw, who failed to use the Cube against him.
• Loki struck Ebony Maw down with Mjolnir as lightning and a blizzard engulfed Jotunheim.
• Looma fought off Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, and the Frost Giants surrounding her while demanding to know who had sent them.
• Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight held their own against Looma with the giants’ help, then Proxima raised her golden Long Spear to release its seal.

Looma defeated the attack of Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive’s God Spear, but the pair ambushed and pinned her while revealing that they wanted to lure Ben Parker away from Earth. Just as Proxima Midnight struck Looma, Ben appeared behind Corvus Glaive.

• Proxima Midnight launched the God Spear’s three rays at Looma, who repeatedly knocked them aside with her hammer.
• Looma met the God Spear’s full descending force with her crimson lightning, devastating the ice field and sweeping Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive into the storm.
• Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive survived beneath the sand and used the God Spear to pierce Looma’s arms and pin her down.
• The pair told Looma that the Galactic Plumbers obstructed Thanos’s plan and that they also intended to kill Ben Parker.
• Looma refused to fear for Ben, and Proxima Midnight raised her hand to strike her before a sudden blow sent Proxima flying.
• Ben appeared behind Corvus Glaive as Looma welcomed her fiancé.

Felicia joined the fight in Manhattan and learned that Hacker was still absent while the heroes struggled to stop Hulk. Loki tried to confront Hulk with his newly acquired hammer, got beaten, and then pinned Hulk down so the awakened Symbiote could try to calm him.

• Felicia fought Chitauri Soldiers and asked Peter where Hacker was, but Peter said he was probably still in the satellite.
