"Take me to register."
Wenren Sheng said this to the thug.
The other man obediently led the Puppet Man, jogging all the way to the outside of a silvery-white building.
People came and went here, and many patrol officers were also making rounds nearby.
The passersby were often well dressed and walked hurriedly, though they were not actually running.
They carried electric batons and watched the people around them vigilantly.
"Damn it, why have taxes gone up again? Are they trying to drive us to our deaths?"
A well-dressed man who was clearly middle class stormed out of the building and cursed furiously at it.
Patrol officers quickly came over and drove him away.
"Sir, come with me. You can enter from here."
The thug seemed accustomed to such scenes and led Wenren Sheng's Puppet Man in through one of the entrances.
Inside was a lobby, where a cold-looking blonde woman received them.
"Fill out the form, get scanned, collect your card." The blonde woman spoke to Wenren Sheng, then pushed an English form toward him.
Wenren Sheng lowered his head for a look, picked up a pen, and rapidly filled it out.
Then came the scan. The woman picked up something resembling a barcode scanner, had Wenren Sheng hold out his hand, and swept it over his wrist.
The woman casually glanced at the number, then froze in shock and blurted out:
"Eighteen thousand five hundred and sixty-three years!"
Her face went pale with fright. She quickly lowered her head and said ingratiatingly, "My apologies, sir. You will be assigned to the Rich District and granted the following rights: ..."
Meanwhile, the little thug who had brought Wenren Sheng's Puppet Man over looked perfectly normal and showed no surprise.
The man had turned him and his companions into statues
