After watching for a while, Wenren Sheng came to the captain's quarters of the Space Fortress.
He was probably more familiar with this place than many of the crew members.
After all, he had watched the simulations in the illusory realms ninety-nine times. This place had been the most crucial of all.
By then, the Female Captain had already used the Intelligent Computer's authority to detain Old Blackie, the Chief of Staff who had attempted to cause trouble, along with all his loyal subordinates.
In a setting where technology was highly advanced, if subordinates wanted to betray their superiors or overthrow them, they could only succeed by catching them off guard. Once the superior had prepared in advance, the latter basically had no chance of succeeding.
After all, the Intelligent Computer was too powerful. Personal authority could decide almost everything.
With a single order and the proper procedures, someone could easily be arrested.
The Female Captain and the person in charge of negotiations were interrogating Old Blackie before a large screen.
Wenren Sheng walked behind them and watched from there.
No one noticed his presence.
"Rhodes, why did you betray me?" the Female Captain asked angrily.
"Child, I only want to tell you this: anything the enemy wants you to do must be wrong," Old Blackie said calmly, without frustration or disappointment.
"We are not enemies. We are all human, and we share a common enemy. Your world was not created by us; we do not possess that ability. It was created by those Anomalies, by those monsters crawling out of the void," the negotiation chief immediately argued.
"Some of us merely drew a comic. Those monsters are the ones that turned your tragic fate into reality! Sir, please keep your eyes open and distinguish who the true enemy is."
