A cave nest somewhere.
Several Wolf Monsters were tearing into a rotting corpse.
They had human faces but wolf bodies. Filthy and reeking from head to toe, they were enough to make anyone vomit at a glance.
Before long, the corpse had been devoured clean.
The Wolf Monsters left the cave and ran into Clown.
"Oh, what adorable little wolf pups. Come, into Daddy's arms."
Clown cackled sharply and held out his hand to the Wolf Monsters.
Those ugly creatures were, in his eyes, the finest pets.
The Wolf Monsters snarled at him a few times, but eventually calmed down and obediently lay prone.
Soon, Clown left with the Wolf Monsters.
And this was only the beginning.
Then came Sludge Monsters, Evil Spirits, Man-Eating Rats...
An army of monsters gradually took shape.
Wherever they went, insects, fish, birds, and beasts were all devoured without a trace, while people hurriedly migrated and fled. In that regard, humans had a natural advantage.
Most people were sensitive enough to danger. Only a small number of the elderly, weak, sick, and disabled, too slow to move, fell victim to them.
In the past, the Colossus Priests would have located them while they were still in their infancy and wiped them out.
