Everything returned to how it had been.
Gawain looked at the bustling city before him, still finding it hard to believe.
He bit his finger hard several times. It hurt.
Only then could he be sure this was not an illusion.
Yet he kept feeling that he had forgotten something.
But no matter how carefully he thought, how hard he thought, whether he knelt down to think or spun around in place 720 degrees to think, he still could not remember what he had forgotten.
Forget it, he thought, then walked into the city.
He shopped and wandered the streets, enjoying city life like an ordinary person.
The only unpleasant thing was that he was still single. Even when he wanted to buy something, he had no idea what to buy.
No, wait. As soon as he thought of that, his head began to ache faintly again.
"Hello, sir. You look a little confused, a little lost. Come to our Future Church. We are Lamplighters, and we will help light the road ahead." A gypsy girl holding a lantern appeared before him.
"Future Church?" Gawain suddenly remembered many things! Right, where had the Colossus gone?
Where had the Red Ants gone?
And where had he himself gone?
When time reversed, could some things be swept away with it?
Or had all of this merely been another cycle? Having experienced two cycles, Gawain had now come to some realization.
If this was a cycle, this one was a little too real.
How could he break free from it?
The first time, he seemed to have died of old age naturally.
The second time, he seemed to have used the Red Ants' power to come back from the dead and return to this so-called real world.
The question was, he had returned.
