The game began quickly. Everyone wore masks, complete with sunglasses, making it impossible to discern their expressions or gaze.
It started at night.
The host's prompt sounded in his ears:
"All players, confirm your identity cards."
Soren had long since seen his identity and seat number: Seer, No. 12.
"Night falls. Please close your eyes."
"Seer, please open your eyes and choose a target to inspect."
After thinking it over, he casually checked No. 8.
No. 8 was a Good Guy.
Then another prompt sounded. "Seer, close your eyes. Werewolves, open your eyes."
Soren knew the order for opening eyes in this setup was Guardian, Seer, Werewolves, Witch.
When he heard "Werewolves," he instinctively opened his eyes to look.
The Werewolves were the reason he had lost everything! Under normal circumstances, players who were not supposed to open their eyes at night would see nothing but darkness if they did. It would be utterly silent—not only could they see nothing, they could hear nothing, not even the heartbeat of the person beside them.
Doing so was no more than a psychological comfort.
Yet when he opened his eyes, he was delighted to discover that he could see—and hear!
Four young wolves were there, gesturing and talking at the same time.
The four wolves, Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 5, were rapidly discussing their strategy.
No. 1 said, "I'll claim Seer and kill No. 9 tonight. As for who we push out, we'll see whose speech is worse. Vote with me."
No. 2 said, "Agreed. I'll take the lead."
No. 3 said, "I'm a total newbie. Whatever No. 1 says, I'll blindly agree."
No. 5 said, "Agreed, but I'll play as a hook."
No. 1 said, "Fine. Let's find the special roles first."
Soren was thrilled, but then he realized something:
