Background / History

Nameless Island legacy

A former Tianshu Tower research institute on Nameless Island was used to study “Artificial Hunters” before being shut down and sealed as a forbidden zone. The institute’s abandonment was connected to a Primal Anomaly Direct Contact Experiment that caused thousands of deaths. Surviving records leave unclear how much the present-day Tower and Federation know about the project’s original backing and purpose 140 157.

Expansion into a Federation institution

By the Eternal Night crisis, Tianshu Tower was already the Federation’s foremost Anomaly authority. It dispatched researchers, elite Hunters, and high-ranking personnel to Shuzhou, including its third-ranked Anomaly-research authority, despite such figures normally commanding remotely from Chunming City 87.

After the Longyanlei incident, the Tower absorbed the proposed Tianfu academy into its own structure as the Tianshu Tower Comprehensive Talent Training Base. Graduates would enter Tianshu Tower directly and receive at least Level Three researcher status 202.

Pei Zongjun and the Mainframe

Pei Zongjun publicly led the Tower through holographic appearances, while the real man was believed to spend nearly all his time in a specialized medical pod 168 200. Sun Hang later learned that Pei had actually died long ago: the Tower’s apparent leader was sustained by a massive brain-like Mainframe connected to Pei’s corpse and able to project his image 450.

The Mainframe originated from half of the Sphinx’s brain, an Anomaly associated with exceptional intelligence and precognitive capability. Following Pei’s final death, control of the Mainframe was transferred to Sun Hang, though most personnel continued to receive orders under Pei Zongjun’s name 450 454 477.
