The infected woman led Sun Hang and the others through the tunnel for nearly two kilometers. Along the way, they passed quite a few side passages that still carried the aura of anomalies, but the infected woman did not stop, and Sun Hang's group could not exactly split up to investigate them.
All they could do was leave simple markers at the entrances to those side passages before continuing onward after the infected woman.
At last, just as Ye Xuan was starting to run out of breath, they finally reached the end of the tunnel—an exceptionally spacious underground hall.
The hall was filled with life-sized terracotta figures. Most were defective products, but the few intact ones gave off an unmistakable anomalous aura. Aside from armored soldier figures armed with weapons, there were even quite a few horse and chariot figures in the hall.
Heavy ballistae were mounted atop war chariots. Four massive bows, each three meters long, overlapped front to back. Thick strings twisted from several strands of animal sinew were wound around enormous winches, while bolts as thick as a child's arm gleamed with a sharp chill at their tips, aimed directly at the people who had entered the hall.
"Good lord... did they move the Terracotta Army from the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor outside Chang'an over here?" Sun Hang could not help marveling.
"No, these aren't Terracotta Army figures from the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor." Candle Dragon shook her head. "The chainmail and weapons on these soldier figures are vastly different from those used by Qin Dynasty soldiers... and the ballistae mounted on those chariots are closer in style to the ones used by Crusaders a thousand years ago."
Yet aside from that, Sun Hang sensed an immensely powerful presence hidden behind the formation.
