Rain Stops
Outside Building Three.
Outside the glass entrance on the first floor, two fully armed soldiers lowered their controllers and shook their heads at the group standing behind them.
Beside them sat a heavy-duty laser cutter, its laser generator—the cutter's "blade"—giving off thin wisps of blue smoke.
Apart from the laser emitter, the ground was littered with all kinds of discarded equipment: bricks, crowbars, iron hammers, chainsaws, tactical breaching rams... even two bottles of aqua regia and a 60mm rocket launcher.
Yet the surface of the tempered-glass door before them, barely a centimeter thick, bore not the slightest mark. Compared with five minutes ago, the only difference was that the sticker on the door had disappeared.
"Director!" A soldier jogged up to a middle-aged man who was still wearing pajamas. "The second team has already dug down twenty-five meters..."
"Still can't get in?" The middle-aged man known as the Director pulled his pajama robe tighter around his shoulders and frowned.
Judging from the expression on the soldier's face, he had already guessed the answer.
"Using Building Three's walls as the reference point, the barrier extends twenty-five meters underground... The second team is still trying to dig deeper, but..."
"What about the third team?" The Director raised his head and looked toward the roof.
"Although the barrier doesn't extend directly above Building Three, it wraps around the entire structure. The rooftop door is just like the main entrance—we can't open it either... With the tools we currently have, we can't damage the building's structure."
There were seventeen Ability Users stationed at the testing grounds, but even after exhausting every method at their disposal, none of them could enter the sealed Building Three.
"Then all we can do is wait for reinforcements from headquarters... I hope that boy can hold on..."
