Sun Hang did not overthink it. He picked up the Anomaly Equipment sniper rifle and instantly returned to the mountaintop.
He stood directly atop the highest boulder, raised the rifle in his hands, and aimed its muzzle at distant Naitou Mountain.
However, when Sun Hang brought his eye to the scope, he did not see a magnified sight picture. Instead, his entire field of vision sank into pitch-black darkness.
The sky was already dark, but with Sun Hang's eyesight, he could still make out Naitou Mountain and the outlines of the grass and trees upon it. Yet when he looked into the distance through the scope of this Anomaly Equipment, every one of those outlines vanished.
Only the purest darkness remained.
And a vivid crimson human figure that stood out sharply within it.
Was that figure the other sniper on Naitou Mountain?
Sun Hang did not even need to aim. The scope had automatically locked the target dead center in the crosshairs.
Sun Hang pulled the trigger.
A muffled gunshot, greatly dampened by the suppressor, rang out. At the same time, countless fungal filaments surged from behind Sun Hang and condensed into a massive flexible shield before him.
"Pfft!"
The flexible shield had barely formed when a huge bulge suddenly protruded from its rear, as though something had slammed heavily into the front of the shield.
Several seconds later, Sun Hang finally heard a faint gunshot drifting over from the direction of Naitou Mountain, so soft it was nearly negligible.
The crimson figure in the scope staggered, then ran unsteadily in one direction. Sun Hang did not shift the angle of his rifle's muzzle, but the crosshairs in the scope kept following that crimson figure, refusing to leave it.
If I fired now, the bullet should curve like before, right?
