"Are they... considered human?"
"I'm not sure what your exact definition of a human is, Mom, but in my view, their essence is already vastly different from that of humans," Anna replied.
"Do you know where they came from?" Sun Hang asked again. "Mainframe, do you know what a Modified Container is?"
Chunming City could be considered entirely within Tianshu Tower's sphere of control. If even the Mainframe did not know the origin of the Modified Containers, then this matter was probably rather serious.
"No relevant data found." The Mainframe's answer made Sun Hang's heart sink at once.
"A Modified Container, as the name suggests, is a human body that has been altered into a vessel capable of enduring excessive negative emotions," Anna said. "Mom, you should know that an ordinary human burdened with such intense negative emotions would have long since turned into a monstrous entity. Modified Containers, however, won't—they can withstand hundreds or even thousands of times the negative emotions of an ordinary person. To me and that fellow in your car, they're basically a large pack of portable, long-lasting canned compressed biscuits."
Sun Hang turned to Xue Yue and asked, "Do you think the two people in the car beside us... look delicious?"
Xue Yue shook her head, a trace of confusion appearing in her eyes as she looked at Sun Hang.
"She doesn't seem to think so."
"Who would eat canned food when there's fresh food available? Even monstrous entities can be picky eaters," Anna said. "The negative emotions stored in those two Modified Containers passed their expiration date long ago. They're no longer fresh... Unless I were starving with no other choice, I wouldn't even bother eating them if they were given to me for free."
"Then here's the question: who modified them?" Sun Hang
