Amid everyone's terrified stares, the man bent over, braced himself against the back of a nearby seat, and began coughing violently as well.
Foul blood mixed with blackish-brown chunks of flesh sprayed onto the floor—and onto the Huntress's "corpse."
The carriage instantly erupted into an uproar.
"He's infected! He was infected by that woman's meme!"
"He's a Hunter too! It's a secondary infection!"
"What's the transmission route? Bloodborne or contact transmission? Don't tell me it's airborne?"
Panic immediately gripped the crowd. Many instinctively covered their mouths and noses, while some even pulled gas masks straight out of their bags.
A flicker of panic crossed He Dawei's eyes as well. He quickly yanked over his backpack, took out protective gear such as a mask and gloves, and put them on himself. As he did, he told the other three, "Hurry up! Put on whatever protective equipment you have! Who the hell knows how that meme spreads?"
Many Hunters and mercenaries rose to their feet and surged toward either end of the carriage. Everyone desperately wanted to get farther away from those two—farther and farther away.
"Save... cough cough cough... save... me... cough cough cough cough!!!" Before the man could finish speaking, he broke into another coughing fit.
This time, he coughed up a palm-sized chunk of organ, smeared with black blood. After landing on the floor, the fragment wriggled like a slug and crawled toward the nearest Hunter.
"Stay away from me!" The Hunter's face went deathly pale. He wanted to retreat, but people were packed tightly behind him, leaving him no room to move back.
In his panic, he ripped off his light jacket, threw it onto the floor to cover the writhing organ fragment, then stomped down on it!
"Squish—pop!" A crisp bursting sound came from beneath the jacket.
