Chapter 13: Evolution Technology

Following the directions from the driver, Su Ze didn't have to walk far before he spotted a shop with a simple yet elegant design, exuding a strong sense of technology. The words "Evolution Technology" were spelled out in shimmering, silvery-white metal above the entrance.

Through the glass display window, Su Ze could see vials emitting the light of evolution displayed in the cabinets inside.

Su Ze's eyes lit up. Besides selling the Tier 4 extract he had on hand, he also planned to buy a Tier 1 extract for himself to absorb.

After absorbing another vial of extract, he would be able to attempt his first evolution.

Su Ze walked into the shop and first scanned the merchandise. Evolution Technology primarily dealt in extracts, and this shop was no exception. Two-thirds of the display cabinets were filled with extracts, while the remaining third held various tonics and a few rare items.

As soon as Su Ze entered, a beautiful older woman, dressed in a short suit jacket and a mini-skirt, smiled and approached him. "Hello, sir. Are you here to purchase an extract?"

As she spoke, she discreetly sized Su Ze up from head to toe. He was young, handsome, and radiated a sunny disposition. He lacked the shyness and awkwardness typical of boys his age, possessing calm eyes and a composed demeanor that suggested he was worldly. Although the brand of his clothes was unidentifiable, they were made of high-end fabric and fit him perfectly, clearly custom-made.

This is a child from a wealthy family... the beautiful older woman instantly concluded. At Su Ze's age, most customers came to their shop to buy Tier 1 extracts or tonics.

However, what Su Ze said next surprised her.

"I want to sell an extract."

The beautiful older woman blinked in surprise.

"What? You don't buy extracts?" Su Ze asked, frowning.

"Ah... we do. Please follow me." The saleswoman smiled apologetically and led Su Ze towards an office labeled "Appraisal Room" behind the counter. Midway, she suddenly remembered and asked, "May I ask what tier of extract you are selling?"

The saleswoman suddenly recalled that the shop's appraiser and manager recently expressed extreme disdain for low-quality Tier 1 extracts, offering very low prices for them. If Su Ze was selling such an extract, the deal would likely fall through.

And given Su Ze's young age, even if his family was well-off, his own strength probably wasn't that great. The extract he was selling was unlikely to be anything special.

With this thought, the saleswoman stopped. She decided that if Su Ze produced a low-tier Tier 1 extract, she would simply dissuade him, saving them from angering their notoriously short-tempered manager.

Su Ze had nothing to hide. He replied, "It's a Tier 4 extract."

"Tier... Tier 4?" The saleswoman's eyes widened, her face filled with disbelief. "I'm sorry, I didn't quite hear you. Could you confirm, did you just say you want to sell a Tier 4 extract?"

Without further ado, Su Ze opened his handbag for the saleswoman. Inside, a vial of extract emanated a mysterious, deep green light.

Red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple. Green light corresponded to a Saint-level lifeform that had undergone four evolutions.

Without a doubt, this was a Tier 4 extract!

The saleswoman's breathing suddenly quickened, her ample chest heaving. A button on her tight suit jacket popped open, revealing a sliver of snowy cleavage.

A Tier 4 extract, even the lowest grade one, was worth a fortune!

If this transaction went through, it would mean substantial sales and a hefty commission.

The saleswoman's attitude shifted from polite to respectful. She bowed slightly to Su Ze. "Please, this way."

She suddenly remembered seeing several small, square plastic packages the size of dried bean curd in Su Ze's bag earlier. Her face flushed slightly, and her gaze towards Su Ze became somewhat strange.

Wealthy kids really do mature early.

Su Ze, unaware that the juvenile inhibitors left by Zhao Lingxiao in his bag had led the beautiful saleswoman to misunderstand him slightly, followed her into the appraisal room.

The appraisal room was spacious but filled with various instruments, leaving little room for movement. A middle-aged man with gold-rimmed glasses and a slightly plump build sat at a computer, engrossed in something on the screen, seemingly oblivious to their arrival.

The saleswoman gave Su Ze an apologetic smile and cleared her throat to get his attention. "Manager, we have a customer who wants to sell an extract."

The manager didn't look up. "What kind of exotic beast extract is it this time? A Drill Mouse or a Water Spray Frog?"

Drill Mice and Water Spray Frogs were the most common exotic beasts in the Black Rock Mountain Range, ranking at the bottom among Tier 1 exotic beasts. Their extracts contained weak evolutionary power, providing minimal physical improvement to the absorber, and their skills were rather mediocre.

The Drill Mouse's two main skills were "Drill" and "Eat Dirt," allowing it to dig holes at a relatively fast pace and eat dirt for sustenance, saving on food expenses.

The Water Spray Frog, on the other hand, mastered the "Absorb Water" and "Spray Water" combo. It would be quite useful for washing cars, provided one mastered both skills.

Black Rock City, being adjacent to the Black Rock Mountain Range, had abundant extract production. However, nearly ninety percent of it consisted of low-tier Tier 1 extracts, with Drill Mouse and Water Spray Frog extracts making up more than half. Evolution Technology had stockpiled a large quantity of these extracts years ago, and a significant portion remained in inventory.

This backlog of Drill Mouse and Water Spray Frog extracts was almost entirely acquired by the Black Rock City branch. This had prevented the branch manager from getting a promotion for several years, explaining why he became enraged at the mention of Drill Mice and Water Spray Frogs.

The saleswoman, fearing her manager's attitude might offend Su Ze, quickly interjected, "Manager, this esteemed guest wants to sell a Tier 4 extract."

"What!" The manager sat bolt upright, his gaze finally shifting from the screen. He scrutinized Su Ze carefully, then looked back at the saleswoman. "Are you sure?"

Su Ze was in a hurry. He directly took the Tier 4 extract out of his bag. "Excuse me... Manager, is it? Please give me a price."

The manager's eyes, magnified by his gold-rimmed glasses, locked onto the Tier 4 extract in Su Ze's hand like twin beams. In his eyes, it wasn't just an extract; it was the hope for his promotion!

The manager shot up from his seat and lunged towards Su Ze with a surprising agility that belied his physique.

"May I ask... what is your name, sir?" The manager's smile was a mixture of flattery and eagerness to please.

"Su Ze."

"Ah, Mr. Su! I am the manager of this shop, my name is Xu Sheng. You can call me Old Xu, Mr. Su." Xu Sheng tried to build rapport. "What a coincidence, Mr. Su, both our names have two characters."

Su Ze's expression turned odd. He chuckled, "Indeed. And we're both men. What a coincidence."

Xu Sheng remained unfazed, showing no sign of embarrassment. He turned to the saleswoman behind him. "Xiao Li, please brew a pot of tea. I have some Evolution Tea Tree leaves in my drawer. Remember to use spring water, not the purified water from the dispenser."

"There's no need for tea. I'm in a hurry. The sooner the better."
