Liu Wenyin's Story

Liu Wenyin was silent for a long time, then shook her head, "I don't know."

She didn't see the clarity of youth in Su Ze's eyes; she couldn't see through him.

Furthermore, analyzing rationally, although her impression of Su Ze was good from their interactions, his words were riddled with inconsistencies, making it hard for her to believe him.

"You have quite a few questions," Liu Wenyin shifted into a more comfortable position, crossing her legs and sitting sideways on the chair. The smooth, half-exposed lower part of her leg under her skirt swayed before Su Ze.

"I am from Dongli Kingdom, you should know that. Both my parents were scientific researchers in Dongli Kingdom. They died in a lab accident when I was very young. My grandparents raised me. After graduating from high school, because my grades were good and I showed some talent in evolutionary science, the country decided to sponsor me to study abroad in Guan Kingdom."

Su Ze nodded, indicating he was listening intently. He knew that "good grades" and "some talent" were definitely humble terms for Liu Wenyin; the reality was likely that she was a top student, surpassing her peers.

Su Ze had some understanding of Dongli Kingdom and Guan Kingdom. Dongli Kingdom had the latest start in evolutionary science and was currently the weakest in overall national strength among the six kingdoms of Linhua Continent.

Guan Kingdom was the opposite, widely recognized as the strongest among the six kingdoms. They possessed the most cutting-edge evolutionary science technology and had research teams composed of world-class evolutionary science experts, always staying at the forefront of the field.

Liu Wenyin continued, "I enrolled in Guan University, Guan Kingdom's top institution. There, I met a great teacher. She was a very pure person and didn't hold back from me just because I was from Dongli Kingdom. Under her guidance, I progressed rapidly."

"At 23, I earned my Ph.D. in evolutionary science and stayed at the university as an assistant professor. At 25, I became an associate professor. At 26, upon my teacher's recommendation, I became the youngest full professor at Guan University. During this time, I consistently engaged in evolutionary research and achieved some results."

"I chose to share some of my research findings with Guan University, but I kept the most valuable part to myself. The Guan Kingdom's authorities monitored me very closely. They had informants in my lab, my personal assistant was one of their people, and my phone was tapped. All this was to prevent me from transmitting my research results back to Dongli Kingdom."

"I requested to return home to visit my family several times, but Guan University refused. They wouldn't even let me go when my grandparents passed away. They provided me with the best research environment and the highest treatment, but in essence, they were holding me under house arrest."

At this point, Liu Wenyin paused, her eyes filled with sorrow. Not being able to see her grandparents off in their final moments was a regret she would forever carry.

Su Ze asked, "What happened later? How did you escape from there?"

Liu Wenyin shook her head, "Actually, I hadn't made up my mind to force my way out at first. It wasn't until about two months ago that I developed a new drug formula. As usual, I didn't report the formula. The Guan Kingdom authorities knew I was withholding many research results, but as long as I didn't transmit them back to Dongli Kingdom, they turned a blind eye."

"But this time, they acted unusually. Within two days, they sent people to negotiate with me, demanding the formula and offering many benefits. When I refused, they didn't give up, resorting to threats and enticements every few days. They surrounded my residence and lab, confiscated my phone, and cut off all contact with the outside world."

"Fortunately, a Dongli Kingdom student at the university noticed something was wrong and helped me seek assistance from Dongli. Subsequently, the Dongli Kingdom government formally approached Guan Kingdom, demanding they release me, but Guan Kingdom ignored them completely."

Su Ze detected something amiss and asked, "What exactly is this formula that Guan Kingdom values so highly?"

A fierce battle broke out at the border between Guan Kingdom and Mu Kingdom. The Dongli Kingdom powerhouses protecting me were almost completely annihilated. Only Aunt Yun and I managed to escape to Mu Kingdom."

Liu Wenyin described it simply, but Su Ze could already imagine the brutality of that battle.

Aunt Yun, who had been listening quietly, interjected at this point, continuing the story, "Once we entered Mu Kingdom's territory, to avoid attracting the attention of the Mu Kingdom authorities, Guan Kingdom only sent one individual at the Butterfly Transformation Stage to track us. That was the guy who mastered the Beast King's Roar, nicknamed 'Tiger King General' in Guan Kingdom.

"The Tiger King General knew he couldn't defeat me in a one-on-one fight, so he only tracked us. It wasn't until we crossed the Black Rock Mountain Range that he incited a beast swarm to launch a surprise attack. You know what happened after that."

Su Ze nodded slightly and asked, "Did you not consider seeking help from the Mu Kingdom authorities?"

Aunt Yun sneered, "Believe it or not, if the Mu Kingdom authorities knew of our existence, they would absolutely not let us leave. Then, Dr. Liu would likely be placed under house arrest by Mu Kingdom as well."

Liu Wenyin added, "That's why, whether in Mu Kingdom or now in Luofan Kingdom, I dare not use my real identity."

Su Ze thought for a moment and understood. A genius evolutionary science expert like Liu Wenyin would likely have her profile in every country. Once her identity was revealed, everyone would want to keep her to work for their own nation.
