The baron and his wife came downstairs about fifteen minutes later.
Russell guessed that Madam Meryl, his mother, had not gotten out of bed until then—noblewomen who had given birth had the right to sleep in. They could have servants wait on them in bed while they washed up, put on makeup, and ate breakfast.
"Carter said there was a problem with your Spirit Worm's evolution?" Baron Roman asked as he descended the stairs.
Russell stood up and nodded. "Yes."
Roland picked up the Jade Box and handed it to the baron. "Father, take a look. Russell's Mushroom Bug really is quite good, but unfortunately, it falls just short in terms of talent."
Baron Roman accepted the Jade Box and examined it carefully. He said nothing, merely passing it on to Madam Meryl.
Then he walked over to the sofa and sat down, gesturing for Russell to do the same. "I've seen the situation. It doesn't look promising. The little fellow has the will to evolve, but it clearly lacks stamina. It wants to break through its shackles, but it simply can't get past them."
That was more or less what his eldest brother Roland had said earlier.
"But, Father, it's still evolving!" Russell sat on the sofa with both hands covering his face, afraid his acting might not be convincing enough.
He knew the Fluorite Mushroom Bug's current condition perfectly well, but he had his own source of confidence—Little Dream Dragon was about to return to the Dark Dreamscape.
So this was merely groundwork, preparing for the Fluorite Mushroom Bug's possible successful evolution.
It was not as though Russell insisted on showing off in front of everyone, especially not in front of his parents.
If his father, mother, and eldest brother Roland could witness the Fluorite Mushroom Bug's evolution
