Magma bubbled and churned. The massive head of the Shadowflame Dragon floated atop the molten surface, and its tightly closed eyes suddenly opened.
Within its scarlet eyes, its pupils instantly narrowed into two slits.
"Roar!"
It opened its jaws and roared. Amplified by Shadowflame Volcano, the sound instantly resounded across the entire Volcanic Oasis and continued to shake the surrounding Warm Enclaves.
Furiously struggling out of the magma, scarlet light flickered beneath the scale patterns of its enormous black body. Scalding magma slid from its wings, neck, and body as thick black smoke billowed endlessly outward.
Accompanied by the Shadowflame Dragon's fury, the entire Shadowflame Volcano seemed poised to erupt once more.
In an instant.
The Shadowflame Dragon flew out of the crater and, facing south, heavily spewed a stream of blazing dragonfire.
The dragonfire scorched the air, swiftly melting it away before vanishing without a trace.
Having done all this, the Shadowflame Dragon could no longer remain airborne. Its enormous body crashed down with a splash into the boiling magma, leaving only its head exposed. Its narrow pupils had relaxed somewhat, but its gaze was filled with exhaustion and sorrow.
It stared at the crater wall, where the dense, long cracks seemed to form a dragon prison that bound it in place.
