The power Neuvillette displayed left everyone present gazing at the imposing Chief Justice with a measure of awe. Neuvillette straightened his tie, then turned into a streak of watery light and returned to the judgment seat above, looking down over the crowd.
"Guards, take Mr. Tartaglia away. Make sure to bind him securely."
At Neuvillette's words, the guards hurriedly saluted him with awe and excitement, then ran onto the stage to carry away Childe, who had been knocked unconscious by an elbow strike.
"Well, now that the one resisting arrest has settled down, it is time for Mr. Marcel's trial."
Neuvillette's words instantly drained the color from Marcel's face, and his body began trembling involuntarily.
"There is no need to be so alarmed, Mr. Marcel. As long as you make no suspicious moves, I will naturally have no reason to act personally."
Neuvillette's expression softened somewhat when addressing someone from Fontaine. He truly had little fondness for the Fatui-or rather, he disliked them.
"I... I'll cooperate!"
Marcel hastily nodded, indicating that he would certainly cooperate with the trial. Standing trial would, at worst, mean being exiled to the Fortress of Meropide, but if he dared try anything, he doubted whether these old bones of his could withstand the Chief Justice's elbow strike...
"Then let the trial begin."
"Mr. Marcel, do you accept the charge of assembling various Gardemeks to attack the Hydro Archon and the group of travelers?"
Neuvillette looked at Marcel and asked in a low voice. Marcel's expression shifted repeatedly. He regretted his carelessness and inwardly cursed himself. He had never expected that even the squad of Gardemeks he had obtained through considerable maneuvering and expense would fail to eliminate these people...
"I... have nothing to say."
Marcel sighed, prompting Neuvillette to nod. The man was unexpectedly sensible.
