Theresa was indeed a little surprised. That wasn't how she remembered the story going, was it?
She remembered that a Dendro core the Lesser Jade Grass King had made long ago had developed an anomaly, after which several unusual Fungi had appeared along the road.
One of those Fungi seemed to possess a clear mind, completely unlike her muddleheaded little companions.
After Nahida spoke with her, she learned that the Dendro Dragon King Apep had been growing weaker ever since taking a ding-dong strike from the Heavenly Principles, and lately looked to be on the verge of dying.
Unable to stand by any longer, the dependents inside her had secretly left the oasis within Apep's body to seek help.
Thus, they found our all-capable Traveler and Nahida. Through the efforts of the Lesser Jade Grass King and the Traveler, they successfully repaired the Heart of Oasis inside the Dendro Dragon King, helping her through her crisis and earning her friendship.
But now, had something happened to Lumine and Paimon, causing them to disappear?
Perhaps the Stellaron Hunters' involvement in Sumeru's story had sent the plot off course?
