After discovering that the enemy had left only a small force to guard them, Prince Gaogen could no longer sit still. He desperately wanted to leave this place and return to Terra City.
"Can't we break out? There are only three hundred of them. They shouldn't be able to stop us!" He raised the question in the mess hall that evening.
Seeing Dario start to fumble for words again, Ronan stepped in to rescue him. Unlike Dario, Ronan had no need to spare Gaogen's pride. Gaogen might have been a prince of Terra, but he could not command Ronan. Besides, Ronan would return to the Asloth Continent after this war. Whether they would ever meet again was anyone's guess.
"True, they can't stop us. But there are still more than fifty of us in the city, and only a little over twenty horses. Who do you plan to leave behind? And what if this is a trap, waiting for us to walk right into it?
"Even if we break through the encirclement in front of us, the area outside is still within the enemy's reach. We'll be discovered immediately. You don't expect these people to fight enemies dozens of times their number out in the wilderness, do you? Even if every one of us could take on a hundred men, the enemy could simply surround us and turn us into sieves with arrows, or stab us to death with spear formations.
"Stop thinking about running. We should stay here, make steady use of the city walls, and wait for the Sinterland reinforcements to arrive. When they launch their full counterattack, they'll come rescue us.
"But that will probably be our hardest moment as well. Once the enemy realizes they can't completely defeat Terra, there's a very good chance they'll send
