He was actually better at Doubles Battles, but unfortunately, this was a singles match.
Under his usual strategy, he would have rotated Whimsicott and Togetic to wear down the opponent, then sent out his remaining Pokémon to finish them off.

Although it had used Electro Ball, Zeraora clearly seemed more adept at Close Combat. Togetic's typing would allow it to defend to some degree.
