It nimbly darted back and forth across the scorching ground, launching attacks to interfere as it tried to get past Heatran.
But its disadvantage in typing and the suppression of the environment left it completely entangled by Heatran, which acted only on instinct while following orders.

Standing atop the passing Groudon, Molten Mountain held the Red Orb glowing crimson in his hand and left behind those words with a mocking expression.
Heatran, programmed to be utterly loyal to Molten Mountain, naturally put even more effort into stopping the Zarude Leader.
The scar-faced Zarude Leader could only watch helplessly as the human who irritated it so much strode away. Its eyes turned even redder with rage as it launched a fierce assault on Heatran.
Heatran stopping the Zarude Leader also meant that the Zarude Leader was stopping Heatran.
The many Trainers of the Sakura Nation Alliance regrouped and attempted to halt Groudon's advance.
But if they could not even break through Heatran, how much of an impact could they possibly have on Groudon?
Most Pokémon attacks were swallowed by the tide of magma raised by Groudon before they could strike it. They tried to capture the leader first by targeting Molten Mountain, who was clearly controlling Groudon, but they could not get anywhere near him.
