"So... as someone who could fight Reshiram on evenly matched terms, why had you ended up like this? Why couldn't your severed tail grow back?"
Su Hao's voice was full of confusion. Surely Cycloze hadn't gone through some cliche reincarnation like Celebi, right?
At once, the Pokémon whom Su Hao had completely convinced turned their burning gazes toward Cycloze.
Cycloze now felt as though it were standing in a blazing inferno, being roasted from head to toe.
If it spoke up, exposing its own embarrassing history would be stupid beyond belief. Its cool image would be completely gone. At the very least, it still had the pride of a Class One Legendary beast.
If it kept quiet, though, Su Hao really could help it reclaim its tail. As long as that Reshiram held off the flying Caterpie for a while, it could rush back and recover its peak strength.
As that memory resurfaced, so did the sensations of its battle with Reshiram.
Back then, it had been incredibly excited, with nothing on its mind but fighting a powerful opponent.
But from the perspective of its present self, which had weathered countless trials, that Inferno Overdrive: Blue Flame Style had possessed an Energy intensity and a level of Fire-type power that its former self could never have broken through.
Its claws did possess the power to tear apart energy, but even that had its limits.
Though it did not want to admit it, Cycloze knew perfectly well that its chances of defeating Reshiram in its former state had been slim.
After a moment of silence, Cycloze raised a hand helplessly, as though conceding.
Forget it. What else could it do? At its rate of eating Terastal Crystals, who knew how long it would take to regain the power of its prime?
