Mr. Aizawa's eyes activated his Quirk Erasure, and for a moment, none of those grunts could unleash their Quirks.
Then, strips of white cloth flew out, binding all the enemies. With a fierce yank, they were lifted and slammed heavily onto the ground.
"Watch out, that guy's Eraser Head—he can erase Quirks just by looking at you."
"Erase?" A bizarre-looking monster with four arms sneered and charged forward. "Can you erase Quirks like ours, the Heteromorphic type?"
"No." Shota Aizawa snorted coldly. "But for guys like you, close combat is enough!"
Bam!
A punch struck the monster's abdomen, then cloth bound his body. After a brutal pull, he too collapsed in pain.
The students began fleeing toward the main gate under 13's lead. Su Lin saw the enemies growing in number, turned around, and prepared to support Mr. Aizawa.
"What are you doing?" Izuku Midoriya sensed something wrong and grabbed her hand. "There are too many enemies. It's too dangerous over there."
"I'm going to save Mr. Aizawa."
Su Lin knew what would happen next. Continuing to run away was pointless. Considering Yukino had some combat ability, she didn't mind using these grunts to test her own level first, while also sparing Aizawa from the tragedy that was supposed to happen.
If it came down to it, she could use X-Hair to activate her Noble Phantasm and blast through.
She didn't believe anyone here could withstand a single strike from the Nameless Victory Sword.
"Su Lin..."
Izuku Midoriya couldn't hold Yukino back. Seeing her already charging toward Aizawa, he prepared to help too.
But just then, a purple-black mist suddenly appeared before them.
"Pleasure to meet you. We are the Villain Alliance. We've come to visit the hero headquarters, U.A. High School, to completely annihilate the symbol of peace, All Might!"
"Crap." On the other side, Shota Aizawa's heart chilled as he watched Kurogiri teleport away. "In the blink of an eye, I let the most troublesome one slip."
In that instant, Yukino rushed up from behind and kicked an enemy flying.
"Teacher."
"What are you doing here?" Aizawa's heart sank. "Why didn't you run with the others?"
"I came to save you."
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Shota Aizawa snorted coldly, but somehow couldn't bring himself to get angry.
As a teacher, protecting students was his duty. He never expected a student would charge into such a dangerous crowd of enemies for his sake, fighting with power that wasn't strong, heedless of the risk.
Even though X-Hair had shown strong close-combat ability in All Might's class, that wasn't enough to turn the tide. There were too many powerful and unpredictable Quirks in this world. Facing so many enemies, one misstep could mean disaster.
"Teacher, don't worry. My Quirk has a special trait: as long as I'm in my transformed state, my original body can't die." Yukino shouted as she charged forward, punching a Heteromorphic creature in the gut.
"You..."
Tch!
Since she'd already rushed in, Shota Aizawa had no choice. He sent out his white cloth and continued to tangle with the surrounding enemies.
Far off on the battlefield, beside the fountain.
"Eraser Head... All Might's not here, and now all this trouble. You useless lot—no matter how many rabble you gather, it's meaningless."
Tomura Shigaraki, who looked utterly unremarkable with his thin frame, stood among several Quirk users, scratching his neck vigorously.
A few seconds later, he suddenly lowered his hand, his tone gradually calming.
"Even if you erase them, it's meaningless. Charging into a crowd alone for a few useless brats... Eraser Head, you've made a foolish decision."
On the scene, Shota Aizawa moved like thunder, taking down at least ten enemies in quick succession. Su Lin, on the other hand, was far less efficient due to her poorer combat skills. She even had an Enhancement-type Quirk graze her ear, leaving a small cut.
"Damn it. Even grunts aren't as easy to fight as I thought."
After all, they were flesh-and-blood people with their own thinking. In a real fight, even though she had no major disadvantage in physical ability, she still couldn't gain much of an edge.
"Die."
Kicking one guy away, Yukino stumbled back half a step. A hand reached out, grabbed her shoulder, and tore off a piece of her clothes.
Pale skin was exposed, with several long scratches on it.
Seeing this, Shota Aizawa rushed over in fury. "Don't hurt my student!"
Bam!
He sent the guy who hurt Yukino flying with one blow, then stood beside her.
"Don't worry about me, teacher. My body has self-healing abilities."
"That doesn't matter. I won't allow anyone to hurt my students." Shota Aizawa's eyes were bloodshot. He swung both hands, binding three people together, then slammed them viciously into each other.
The battle was fierce, and it was draining his stamina.
"Let me think... what happens next in the story."
Although he had watched My Hero Academia, it had been too long. Su Lin only remembered the general plot, forgetting many of the details.
Just then, a tall, thin youth in gray clothing suddenly charged toward them.
"22 seconds... 23 seconds..."
With each count he shouted, the distance between him and Shota Aizawa shrank.
"Tomura Shigaraki!"
Yukino's expression shifted slightly as she immediately understood what this guy was planning.
Aizawa's Quirk couldn't be used continuously without a break; there was always an interval. Shigaraki, observing from afar, had clearly noticed Aizawa's cooldown period and seized this opening to launch an attack.
"Don't think you'll succeed."
Just as Aizawa, caught off guard, was about to be ambushed, Yukino flashed in, placing herself behind him, and threw a fierce punch.
"You..."
Shigaraki dodged instantly, his face twisting in rage as he grabbed her arm.
"You're getting in my way."
The immense strength made it hard to break free.
Seeing Yukino injured, Aizawa angrily unleashed his white binding cloth, sending Shigaraki flying with a single strike.
Crack~
Seconds later, the skin on Yukino's arm, along with her sleeve, had split apart under Shigaraki's Quirk. A sharp, clear pain pulsed from her skin, accompanied by the tingling sensation of cells repairing themselves.
Chapter 20: Failure
"You should get out of here. Don't interfere with me." Aizawa knew Su Lin had taken the enemy's attack to save him, but as a teacher, he didn't want this to happen.
"Heh... hahaha..." Shigaraki, lying on the ground, let out a strange laugh, his voice brimming with indescribable fury. "Annoying brat, even you have to get in my way."
Slowly standing up, his gaze first focused on Yukino, then shifted to Aizawa.
"That Quirk of yours isn't really suited for prolonged battles against multiple opponents, is it? What you're good at is ultimately short-term decisive fights with surprise attacks. Even so, you charged in head-on—was it to reassure your students? How cool, how cool!"
As he spoke, Shigaraki laughed even more recklessly. "Too bad, though. You really did teach yourself a fine student."
Whether it was mockery or praise, Aizawa listened while swiftly taking out the surrounding grunts, finally fixing a cold stare on Shigaraki.
"Whoever you are, you're paying the price today."
"Is that so?" Shigaraki's tone dripped with sarcasm. "But unfortunately, I'm not the boss."
"What?"
In an instant, Yukino noticed a massive figure suddenly appear beside Aizawa.
The Nomu—this superweapon designed specifically to counter All Might, a modified monster fused with multiple Quirks—possessed strength that even a powerhouse like All Might would find troublesome.
Aizawa turned, stunned by the terrifying creature before him.
It raised its enormous, thick arm and swung it down viciously.
"Not good."
Su Lin knew that an opponent of this level couldn't be dealt with by ordinary means.
"Saber!"
With a drawn-out roar, Mysterious Heroine X separated from Yukino's body, brandishing the Victory Sword as she instantly appeared between the Nomu and Aizawa.
Boom~~~
The moment their arms collided, a terrifying shockwave erupted.
Aizawa was sent flying seven or eight meters by the blast. Nearby, Midoriya, Tsuyu, and Mineta—who had just finished fighting water enemies and were lying on the shore watching—couldn't even open their eyes against the wind.
After the rolling dust cleared, everyone saw a petite girl with golden hair and a blue outfit standing there, blocking the Nomu's attack with just one hand.
The massive crater in the ground showed the sheer force of the clash; even the recoil had caved in the solid concrete.
"What strength."
X-Hair felt her hand trembling. Assassins really weren't suited for close combat, she thought. Going head-to-head with a monster on All Might's level was no easy feat.
"Die."
She tried to let out an Artoria-style roar, and power suddenly erupted from both arms. The massive Nomu was sent flying backward by an even greater surge of force.
Boom!
The moment it landed, the ground within a dozen meters instantly collapsed.
Seeing this, Shigaraki fell into a brief silence.
Seconds later, the Nomu climbed slowly out of the crater as if nothing had happened.
"Tch, Shock Absorption?" X-Hair clicked her tongue in annoyance.
That was the Nomu's Quirk.
If that's the case, they had to unleash an attack exceeding its limit of endurance.
"I have no choice but to use the sword."
X-Hair swung her weapon, bent her legs, and in an instant flashed before the Nomu. With a series of slashes, several blue streaks of light flickered past.
Pshh—
The Nomu's left arm was cleaved in two by the sharp blade.
After the attack, X-Hair immediately bounded back twenty meters, watching the opponent from a distance.
Then, in her view, a viscous, bloody lump of flesh grew out from the severed arm, instantly forming a new hand.
"Tch, as I thought."
This thing not only had Shock Absorption, but also Super Regeneration.
"Damn it."
Tomura Shigaraki truly hadn't expected an ordinary student to be this strong. He scratched at his neck vigorously, and after a full ten seconds, suddenly asked Kurogiri, who had appeared beside him:
"Kurogiri, did you take down 13?"
"I've rendered her unable to act, but there were still some students who hadn't been transferred away, and one of them escaped." Kurogiri answered truthfully.
"Huh?"
Shigaraki was clearly stunned again.
The one who escaped was Tenya Iida. Because his Quirk was fast, he was suited to go outside and seek help from other heroes.
But learning this, Tomura Shigaraki's mood hit rock bottom, and his tone grew fierce: "Kurogiri... if it weren't for your teleportation ability, I'd have crushed you into dust by now."
"My apologies." Kurogiri quickly bowed his head.
After a dozen seconds of silence, Shigaraki suddenly seemed to let it go, speaking flatly:
"Forget it."
