The branch managers rose one after another to call their respective staff. Su Chenghe and Li Guanqi had already left the room.
Almost everyone still seated in the room was a branch manager with no staff left under them.
With the first step arranged, it was easy to imagine the bloodbath about to unfold at Orange Lake Plaza.
Once people started dying, it would cause enormous unrest.
Never mind the handful of staff they had now—even their original full roster probably would not have been enough to purge so many tourists.
But such simple problems were left to Su Chenghe and the others to handle. There were all sorts of ways to solve them.
After the meeting fell briefly silent, Ji Li suddenly asked:
"How many people do we actually have left?"
Gu Qingyun looked up and glanced at him without answering. He was already all alone and really did not want to speak again.
Hou Guisheng looked at the remaining staff members, did a quick calculation, and said:
"There were eighteen of us in this private room earlier, and another seven outside. Twenty-five in total."
Two hours into the mission, casualties had reached thirteen. That was already an alarming figure.
But only now did Ji Li realize there was a glaring, major discrepancy.
How could there possibly still be twenty-five people left?
He himself had gone through two Special Projects, with seven people in each group. Fourteen people had died across those two rounds.
Shao Yong'an had explicitly stated that he had participated in or witnessed four Special Projects in total. That should have meant twenty-four deaths.
Ji Li's mind seemed to stall. With a complicated look in his eyes, he sat back down and lowered his head, turning it over and over in his mind.
