Tong Guan kept his expression neutral, watching the tips of his shoes as he climbed toward the third floor, one step at a time.

Gongsun Liang's two reports had each been worse than the last. Branch No. 2 seemed to have become a death trap, yet Tong Guan was still leading the others deeper inside, knowingly marching toward their deaths.

Wu Hui was blunt and simplehearted, chattering incessantly along the way. Without anyone asking, he spilled everything that had happened since he entered the branch.

Tong Guan considered revisions to the original plan while studying the stairs rising around them and listening to Wu Hui's account.

In truth, what Wu Hui had experienced as the leader of the second scouting team was not particularly complicated.

When he entered Branch No. 2, he had initially had a goal similar to Tong Guan's, though somewhat simpler: he was only responsible for investigating the situation.

What greeted him upon entering, however, had struck him like a bolt of lightning.

Branch No. 2 was far from quietly falling apart. Instead, numerous employees were mixed together, locked in a struggle against an unseen ghost.

This had forced Wu Hui to change his approach on the spot. He sent two people to investigate, then led another person to join the employees in fighting the ghost.

But because it was an Invisible Ghost, even with Wu Hui and his companion joining them, the employees continued to lose ground. They lost the first floor, then the second, and even the third, before finally establishing a defensive line around the narrow stairs to the attic.

According to the original employees, nine ghosts in total had attacked Branch No. 2, but the other eight were all focused on destroying the second floor, trying to free the ghost residents.
