As the paper figure turned its pitch-black gaze toward him, its pallid face illuminated by the Red Moon, and muttered in an eerie, mechanical way, Ji Li suddenly realized he might have misunderstood something.
Perhaps the Ghost Bride was just like the Time Ghost. Every element he had seen before would appear in rapid succession, without even the details changing.
Because they were merely two sides of a mirror.
If this was nothing more than a mirror relationship... what would the reverse of the Time Ghost's "ruthless killing" be?
Ji Li had misunderstood this. In the faces of the paper figures, he saw an indifferent chill, along with the seemingly festive procession of red and white.
Red silk fluttered, candle flames burned eerily, and blood seeped from the coffin amid the damp, cold air.
A bone-deep chill began spreading through the blood sealing the coffin, gradually penetrating his clothes and clinging to his entire back. That uncanny sensation felt as though a sticky palm were slowly stroking his spine.
Hair-raising malice rapidly filled Ji Li's mind through the coffin's cracks. He could distinctly feel the threat of a slow but lethal death.
What if I really was wrong?
What if the Ghost Bride wasn't planning to kill me after the wedding, but to strike during it? What would I do then...?
Ji Li had once believed that, having invested so much, the Ghost Bride must have wanted the wedding to be completed.
But now, the Time Ghost had been dealt with, yet every step the Ghost Bride took was no different from its own. This was a clear reminder that a ghost was still a ghost. Its position could change, but its attitude toward humans would not.
Perhaps the Ghost Bride did not need to wait until the wedding ended.
