Hunting Game

Bao An watched every step carefully, his gaze fixed on the floor beneath his feet.

The scattered moonlight let him make out subtle changes in the dust. He was looking for traces of movement.

Slowly, his gaze stopped before the door to Room 0804.

He spotted a few clues on the door to that room.

The door's surface was covered in dust, but there was a very faint handprint near the keyhole.

It was a priceless discovery to him. He shook an old-fashioned flashlight from his sleeve and said urgently,

"Everyone, I found something!"

At the same time, a slightly plump young man a few steps ahead of him spoke the exact same words.

Bao An and Teng Shan turned their heads at the same time and exchanged a look.

"I found a handprint on the door to 0804."

"I found a handprint on the door to 0813."

The woman caught between them, Tian Xiao Ou, clutched her flashlight in both hands. She was too frightened to say a word.

As the unexpected development emerged, the atmosphere fell into a deadlock. All three of them tacitly turned to look behind them.

Hou Guisheng wore a black outdoor jacket. His rigid back was straight, and his steps were light yet steady.

Though he was the oldest person here at forty-one, the unyielding air he gave off was impossible to ignore.

Before this, no one had known the name Hou Guisheng. But Bao An, Teng Shan, and the others all understood one thing.

Without this man, they would never have been qualified to reach the eighth floor.

Hou Guisheng's eagle-sharp gaze swept over Bao An and Teng Shan. Both of them felt a sting across their faces and instinctively looked away.

"Everyone, it is time we reassessed the current situation."
