Preparing to Open the Door

"Why did you bring up Gu Xingjian?"

Ji Li struggled to his feet, nudged the Music Box with his foot, and asked casually,

"The future told me that before long, my fate would become entangled with Gu Xingjian's in an extraordinary way."

Fang Shenyan left it at that. He clearly had no intention of explaining further.

Ji Li did not press him. He merely turned and called toward the far end of the corridor,

"Come with me."

Hou Guisheng had remained in the Sixteenth Floor corridor, standing by the window and looking at the moon.

Ji Li joined him there, bringing the Music Box along.

Xue Tingtao was so afraid of the two of them that he had stayed near Room 1604, not daring to move.

But Ji Li needed to make some changes involving the Music Box while keeping Xue Tingtao alive, so he had to bring him along.

Xue Tingtao had been avoiding them ever since he saw Ji Li kill Gu Xingjian with his own eyes. The sight had terrified him.

Gu Xingjian was a long-renowned manager, second only to Li Yi, yet he had died at Ji Li's hands.

To Xue Tingtao, even the sight of Ji Li felt like a glimpse of the devil.

Terrified as he was, he did not dare disobey when Ji Li called.

And so the three of them gathered once more in the Sixteenth Floor corridor.

Ji Li closed his eyes and thought for a moment before saying to Hou Guisheng,

"Help me let Quan Liang and Su Chenghe out."

Hou Guisheng had no objection, nor did Fang Shenyan. But Xue Tingtao raised a trembling hand.

He spoke up with a question.

"Managers, after you kill Quan Liang, are you going to make your move?"

The sudden question surprised both
