A Simple Way Out

Fang Shenyan took a folding umbrella from his backpack, gripped the handle, and pressed its tip against a door on his left.

Before he even applied much force, the inconspicuous hidden door opened with ease.

Yet the door did not open by sliding or pulling in the conventional sense. Instead, it rotated within the wall before closing again.

He cautiously kept his distance and did not rashly enter, merely observing from outside.

During the brief moment the door rotated, he saw the scene inside.

The room shared the same dark green style as the corridor, its layout extremely similar, though it was noticeably smaller and more cramped.

Limited by his angle outside the door, Fang Shenyan could not fully observe everything inside.

But he clearly saw half of a person within his field of view. That person faced the wall and was presumably seated before a Game Console.

One person, one Game Console, nothing else...

Thinking this, Fang Shenyan used the umbrella tip to push open the door once more.

The door slowly began rotating again, producing muted mechanical sounds.

This time, he swiftly slipped inside and finally saw all the Awakening in the room, as well as the person's appearance.

In the small room of roughly ten square meters, a thin middle-aged man sat on a cheap plastic stool.

His upper body leaned forward over an old joystick arcade machine, his head tilted to one side and completely motionless.

Fang Shenyan quietly approached from behind, his eyes fixed on the image displayed on the screen.

The image was frozen. Within the blurred background was some gloomy floor, with a pool of thick blood on the ground.

Most Awakening of all was the line of bloody words flashing continuously at the center of the screen:

"Game Over."
