Eight Steps

Hou Guisheng looked coldly at the person before him. He did not back down because of a single sentence; his expression only grew more hostile.

Su Chenghe stole a glance at the Music Box on the windowsill. After struggling for a moment, he said in a deep voice:

"Things have come to this. There is no need for infighting among store managers.

We all need to calm down and find an answer that is reasonable, timely, and in accordance with the rules."

The atmosphere froze to the breaking point. No one spoke again; they merely stared at one another.

At that moment, Fang Shenyan's voice finally came through, carrying a trace of exhaustion.

"I already killed myself once, but I didn't die."

Hou Guisheng's expression changed. His gaze shifted back and forth between the communicator and Ji Li several times before he abruptly turned around.

Su Chenghe frowned as he watched him leave and hurriedly asked:

"Manager Hou, where are you going?"

Hou Guisheng did not look back. He merely headed downstairs and said coldly:

"You and I never had any decision-making power. What meaning is there in staying here?"

Su Chenghe stood where he was, his outstretched right arm grasping nothing but air. He turned to Ji Li with difficulty and let out a long sigh.

However, he did not choose to leave. Instead, he went to the other side of the stairwell and sat on the floor.

Ji Li had long since withdrawn his gaze. Curled up on the windowsill, his body bathed in moonlight, he asked faintly:

"What happened after you chose Option D?"
