The slight Geng Haohao, the terrified Lu Jingting, and the relatively composed Teacher Mo Lan.
The three had just rushed up the stairs into the second-floor dining area. Through the darkness obscuring most of their vision, they could already make out the horrifying scene before them.
Hundreds upon hundreds of backs stretched as far as the eye could see, all "bowing their heads" over the Dining Tables and eating quietly.
Stainless-steel trays sat on the tables. Figures flickered in the Eerie Glow, faintly reflecting part of the ghosts' "faces."
Or perhaps they could be called "faceless."
Because the ghost tide on the second floor consisted entirely of Headless Ghosts.
In the dead silence, the three did not even dare breathe. Their footsteps froze at the stairwell entrance as they glanced downstairs from the corners of their eyes.
Some extremely strange sound echoed through the stairway below, along with the sound of metal objects chopping.
It was so close that it seemed as though they would see its source after just one turn. The noise pounded against their ears, again and again.
Who exactly was in the stairwell? What was it chopping at? That was no longer even a question. They could guess without thinking.
This staircase had already been blocked off. It seemed that if they wanted to reach the first floor, only one route remained.
They would have to pass through this tide of Headless Ghosts and reach the staircase on the other side...
Just imagining it made their spines go cold and their legs go weak.
Geng Haohao was the youngest and performed the worst. His palm-sized face was already written all over with frailty and helplessness.
With only one Mission Experience, he could only cling to Teacher Mo Lan's left arm.
Likewise, Lu Jingting, with zero Mission
