Dogs barked in one place after another, and beacon fires relayed the signal—it sounded a little strange, but Lily's dog scouts really were impressive. Every corner of the street had one of their lookout posts. These stray dogs that never settled down at night were the strongest scouts, ones who could catch the Demon Hunters completely off guard. Once the initial signal was sent from three or four blocks away, it spread through the entire South Suburbs via barking in a matter of seconds. No one would think a sudden burst of barking at night was anything important, because packs of wild dogs in this sparsely populated old suburban district caused a tremendous ruckus almost every night for one reason or another. Aside from the Dog King, no one could understand what meaning lay hidden in that sudden chorus of barks.
Lily was still sprawled on the sofa watching a boring romance drama, her tail sweeping back and forth across the backrest like a little brush. (Because of that, Hao Ren had even bought a handheld vacuum cleaner specifically to clean up her shed fur.) The moment the steadily approaching barking began, she reacted instantly and sprang more than two meters into the air. "All units, attention! We've found—" "Bang!"
Vivian reached out and dragged the idiot out from under the table. "At least leave the Landlord a few pieces of intact furniture—found them?"
"Four blocks away, in a demolition zone. My puppies are tracking them. There's only one person." Lily climbed awkwardly to her feet and gestured wildly as she reported the situation. "They should've come out to check the runes. Looks like the Demon Hunters discovered that the spell card was missing, so they sent someone to investigate. They're alone! They're actually alone!"
"What a great opportunity!" With
