The white brick building across the river turned out to be a little chapel.
Hao Ren carried the kettle to the entrance of the white building. On the tightly closed door, he saw the familiar Leta Runes and an emblem made up of a circle, a triangle, and lightning. The latter was the symbol of the Radiant Church in this world. He had learned about the mark when Vivian introduced him to the Radiant Church, and knew what each part represented: the circle stood for the church's explanation of the world—that everything belonged to fulfillment yet returned to chaos, forming a world within reincarnation. The triangle represented the authority of the Goddess. It lay inside the circle, supported by three vertices that determined the circle's shape, signifying that the Goddess's power determined the rules of the world. The lightning at the center of the design was the church. Its top touched one of the triangle's vertices, meaning that the church's authority came from a blessing of one-third of the god's power. This was quite an interesting religion. They had precisely defined the scope of their authority as "one-third of divine power." Hao Ren had never heard of a religion whose clergy specifically emphasized that they represented only one-third of a god, so he remembered this point particularly well.
If he had not seen that mark at the entrance, Hao Ren really would have had no way to connect this little house with a chapel. It was far too small, and it was not one of those distinctive buildings with pointed roofs. There were no gorgeous stained-glass windows or religious decorations visible outside, either. It seemed that chapels in small rural villages really could not compare with those in towns. This one probably counted as an affordable chapel.
