The old man before them had a genial air, without much of the imposing presence one expected from someone in a high position. At the same time, the armored woman who had been standing with her back to the door turned around and looked over curiously. Hao Ren found that she was much younger than he had expected, appearing to be around twenty-five. She had fair skin and beautiful features, but there was also a faintly imposing, heroic edge to her expression, as though she had spent years on the battlefield rather than being nothing more than a pretty face.
The moment Becky saw someone important, she instinctively grew nervous. She quickly clasped her hands before her chest in a peculiar gesture, then bowed deeply. Her voice came out stiff and formal. "Your Excellency the Diocesan Chief, greetings. I'm Becky, a Level 2 mercenary from Lunber Town. Um... ah, I have important information to report!"
"Don't be nervous. I've heard about it." Diocesan Chief Geldon waved his hand, indicating that Becky did not need to be so formal. He cast a curious glance at the people behind her and noticed that they had neither bowed nor shown any nervousness. Instead, they carried a subtle air of detachment, so he could not help looking at them a few more times. He said nothing about it, however, and simply turned to Becky, getting straight to the point. "You just came down from the mountains? Do you know about those giants?"
Becky hurriedly nodded. "Yes... yes! We saw them split off from a mountain peak south of the ancient mountain road!"
"Split off from a mountain peak?" The old man's brows twitched, and a flash of astonishment crossed his murky eyes. "What do you mean by 'split off'? Tell me exactly what happened."
