After the banquet ended, Izax led Hao Ren and the others to a terrace above the palace. From there, they could look down over more than half of Demon King's City. The enormous city was simply too vast; even from the highest point of the palace, they still couldn't see all of it.
The roughly circular city had been laid out in an orderly yet varied fashion. Within its magnificent obsidian outer walls were twelve districts, divided by twelve symmetrically arranged high walls. Each district contained the characteristic buildings of various races, as well as the huge black towers built by the demons. The residents weren't isolated from one another by the walls. The walls contained enormous gates and suspension bridges, all powered by magic and capable of opening and closing at any time. Their purpose was presumably to provide an additional defense against foreign enemies if the city came under attack. The Demon King's palace stood at the center of the city, built atop a tall rocky hill.

As the group that lived directly in Demon King's City and had been influenced most deeply by Izax, they had long since adapted to this atmosphere of gathering together in clustered communities. Elves didn't find the orcs' rough liquor and roasted meat objectionable, while orcs were more than happy to study the elves' intricate yet exquisite woodcarving techniques with them. This was the true face of the Demon King's City, which looked gloomy and terrifying to outsiders.
Unfortunately, most people could only notice the sinister appearance
