Hao Ren could not understand why places associated with evil spirits, curses, witchcraft, and the like always had to be made so gloomy and terrifying. In fact, such atmospheric arrangements had no effect whatsoever on the effectiveness of witchcraft. He had once consulted magic experts like Izax and Vivian and confirmed that a magic circle for summoning the dead did not necessarily have to be carved into black stone, nor did fel runes conflict with golden paint. Magic was flexible and ever-changing; it had never been opposed to decorations.

So he felt that the Underground Palace sealing the evil spirit could be fitted with a hundred or so daylight lamps to make it brightly lit. Two rows of Teletubbies and Pleasant Goat could be set beside the magic circle, and of course the evil spirit's coffin could be covered in SpongeBob paintings. None of those things would affect the seal itself.

Besides, he felt that such arrangements would actually strengthen the seal: just imagine it. A sealed demon or evil spirit pushed open a coffin covered in SpongeBob, walked down from the altar across a Pleasant Goat jigsaw-puzzle floor, with a line of Calabash Brothers on the left and a line of Balala the Fairies on the right. Even Sargeras would have to lose a third of his nerve before stepping down from the altar...

Anyway, Vivian had already stated that if someone summoned her one day using an altar in that style, she would rather die inside the portal...

But no matter how much
