Hao Ren led the two girls carefully through the wreckage in space. Huge white spires and ancient walls inlaid with crystals swept past them. These things had been scorched in outer space for over ten thousand years, yet they remained as pristine as new, showcasing the Sirens' extraordinary materials technology from the past.
" This was supposed to be a water world," Vivian said wistfully as she looked upward. There had once been a water dome there, but after the ship's energy core shut down, the dome had vanished, and the cabins that had once been filled with clear water had dried out. "Without water, the Sirens can't live forever, either."
"Worlds are so amazing." Lily grabbed a pipe and slipped past Hao Ren. "Human ships need air, while Siren ships need water... What's that up ahead?"
A damaged alloy wall appeared ahead of them. Above it was a large tear opening outward, clearly destroyed by a shockwave. Hao Ren hurried forward as soon as he saw it. "We're here. This should be an explosion site."
The inside of the breach was pitch-black. Without air to scatter it, sunlight couldn't reach inside, and they could only vaguely make out complex pipes and grating, seemingly a passage reserved for large equipment. Hao Ren casually tossed a glowing ball inside. It floated in the air, illuminating the surroundings enough to reveal the general situation: a section of pipes that had been reduced to chaos, with countless broken and twisted metal tubes entangled across the walls. Torn grid structures could still be seen between the pipes. All these signs pointed to a violent explosion.
Hao Ren drifted through the breach first, hoping to find the reason this interstellar warship had been destroyed from the broken remains. Lily and Vivian followed close behind.
