No one knew what had happened in the Sanctuary. As far as the secular kingdoms were concerned, only things they could see and touch were worth their attention. The Chaos Tide still showed no sign of weakening, but thanks to the "miracle" bestowed upon them, the situation was no longer as precarious as it had been a few days ago. The darkness had yet to recede, but the Tower of Sunscorching in every kingdom had already been relit. The greatest crisis seemed to have passed.
Every kingdom's court was discussing the beam of light that had pierced the sky the day before. Scholars and Secret Arts Masters argued red-faced over the possible cause of the phenomenon, while the kings were more concerned with how long the power brought by that beam could last. The pillar of light had gradually faded after lasting for more than ten minutes, but the mysterious energy it brought had somehow reactivated every Tower of Sunscorching that was on the verge of going out, in a manner no mortal could understand. Scholars could not explain the principles behind the recharge and could only vaguely claim that it was some kind of divine-power resonance. The Towers of Sunscorching had received temporary energy through the resonance, but as for how long that energy would last... absolutely no one knew.
That was because all the Towers of Sunscorching had entered an uncanny operating mode after being illuminated by the beam. Their original energy-monitoring systems had all burned out, and the towers were now operating completely outside the realm of common sense. The maintenance personnel who had once strutted around arrogantly could now only stare blankly at the crashed control arrays.
And while the entire secular world was busy discussing the source of the light, that source was caught up
