The cave entrance leading to the other-dimensional space was located inside the quarry, on a rock face almost perpendicular to the mountain. The hard granite wall had split open into a human-shaped crack more than ten meters high, and at its widest point, three people could enter side by side. Around the rock face lay large amounts of fallen stone and earth, while damaged machinery was scattered messily across the open ground. This was presumably the result of that "small-scale collapse."
"The management here is becoming more and more problematic." Heiserana looked at the accident site and could not help shaking her head. "Though the Heiserana Family is powerful, we can't avoid the trouble of being unable to properly supervise those people in places far from the emperor's reach. The supervisor for this area used to be a dependable fellow. I gave him some Bloodkin power and extended his lifespan by nearly a century, but now even that fellow has started slacking off."
Two young vampires followed behind Heiserana. The female one asked, "Clan Leader, should we replace the supervisor here?"
"No, not for now. Pero is still loyal, and from the perspective of the accident itself, the quarry foreman bears most of the responsibility this time. Pero's subsequent handling of the matter was at least not seriously flawed. His main problems were poor judgment in selecting personnel and inadequate supervision. Give him a few pointed reminders later. I believe that boy will know what to do." Heiserana shook her head as she spoke. "But if this happens again, we'll have no choice but to replace him."
There was no lighting in the cave. The sunlight shining in through the entrance was quickly left far behind, leaving only darkness ahead. Since the accident, no humans had entered the cave again.
