The drone swarm had become completely embroiled in battle with Amantir's defending forces.
This was a battle that left the Corruptors' minions at a loss—even though they had clashed with these drones two or three times already, their commanders still couldn't adapt to these suddenly appearing, ice-cold machines. In the thousands of years of war, they had always faced the fleets of the Guardian Giants, and the style of warfare they were used to involved two armies keeping their distance for long-range bombardment, flanking units conducting harassment, and massive artillery providing suppressive fire—conventional tactics like these. The arrival of the drone swarm, however, had brought them an entirely new challenge.
The drone swarm did not conduct long-range bombardment and had almost no fortress artillery. Instead, it used its extremely advanced battlefield-jump capabilities to rapidly cross the entire battlefield, appear right in front of you, and then plaster you with the high-energy reactions of its rapid-fire cannons. If your anti-air firepower was strong enough to shoot them down in time, they would simply crash onto your head and self-destruct.
These cold mechanical lifeforms were like a swarm of insects. They went straight to the nearest point and attacked en masse. Most heavy artillery became useless against them. Once they closed the distance and engaged in a face-to-face dogfight, even a giant warship performed worse than a mutated beast waving its tentacles.
Thus, the Corruptor warships with powerful firepower and long-range radar systems were the first to be forced out of the battle. Only some ships remained on one side of the battlefield to fight the Guardian Legion's massive warships, while the remaining Corruptors became temporarily locked in a stalemated melee with the drone swarm.
"We've entered a stalemate. The enemy's heavy-firepower units have withdrawn, but the number of light-firepower and high-mobility
