It's finished.
From posting the book on November 15, 2021, to drawing the curtain on it on June 2, 2023, a year and a half passed. Nearly 3.8 million characters later, my first original novel has come to an end.
To be honest, I was still a little reluctant to let it go.
Writing was a joy. Peeking at the feedback in this chapter's comments doubled that joy. For a while, that happiness would be leaving me.
Every day, I would do nothing but eat and sleep. Either I played games at home, went out to let loose, met up with friends and classmates, met other writers in person, or traveled around with my family.
Boring and tedious days—just thinking about them gave me a headache!
I had grown used to working diligently every day. Could I really stand sleeping until I woke naturally? Could I really stand all kinds of delicious food? Could I really stand all those games that looked fun at a glance?
There was nothing I could do. Though I was deeply unwilling, I could only endure it with tears in my eyes.
Gulp!
Immortals Just Want to Get Off Work had an average subscription count of 22,000. As a wordsmith who had switched from infinite-flow novels to original fiction, I figured the results were pretty good and met my expectations.
It surpassed the results of my previous three completed books. I had no regrets.
As for my thoughts and insights on writing, I won't discuss them here. Those who know how to write novels won't think much of my little insights, while those who don't know how to write novels...
If you learn them, won't I go hungry?
To sum up, I dug every hole that needed digging and filled every hole that needed filling.
