Yin and yang had yet to be distinguished; all was chaotic unity.

When qi contained yin and yang, the clear and turbid separated.

When gathered, yin formed shape; when dispersed, yang transformed into qi. Gathering brought life, dispersal brought death. Something emerged from nothing, and something became nothing. Yin and yang followed an order, giving rise to life without end.
