Background

Breni was the youngest daughter of a shepherd family. Her family was killed by an armored knight, after which she was sold to the Spirit Flame Cult. The memory of her parents and their difficult but warm life remained with her centuries later. 454

As a member of the Spirit Flame Cult, Breni and its knights worshipped the Abyssal Monarch. When the Monarch ceased answering their prayers, the cult swore loyalty to Audrey, the Golden Flower Count's daughter, in exchange for an opportunity to enter the Abyss and find their god. The Abyss vanished before they could succeed, and the cult's knights ultimately died fighting for the Golden Flower Family in the north. Breni insisted this was not a betrayal of their faith. 48

During the Old Continent era, Breni fought alongside Valkyrie Aria in hundreds of battles, particularly against Beastmen forces. Both Breni and Spirit Flame Vice Bishop Heidi had previously sworn allegiance to Aria. 228 381

Fang Yuan awakened Breni through the Hero Altar. Initially hostile, she demanded that he either embrace the Spirit Flame Cult or face destruction. She agreed to serve him only after he swore that, should his power permit it, he would seek the Abyss and locate the Abyssal Monarch, dead or alive. Her recruitment locked her loyalty at 100. 48

Personality

Breni is intensely devoted to the Spirit Flame Cult and the Abyssal Monarch. She reacts fiercely to accusations that the cult betrayed its faith, framing its service to the Golden Flower Family as a desperate attempt to reach the vanished Abyss. 48

On the battlefield, she is forceful and direct, regularly leading from the front of cavalry charges. Her command style is also practical: when her Demon Knights were critically depleted, she remained calm, analyzed enemy positions, and planned a breakout rather than surrendering to despair. 240 394
