"Uchiha Sheng, a powerful member of Konoha's Uchiha Clan. He once studied under Orochimaru, one of the Three Ninja. He was Konoha's Acting Hokage and once the best candidate to succeed the Fourth Hokage. Because of Orochimaru's defection, he chose to pass the Hokage Seat to Minato Namikaze."
Itachi's indifferent voice echoed through the vast canyon. Everyone else listened carefully. When they heard that Uchiha Sheng had been Orochimaru's disciple, some of them could not hold back any longer.
Hidan laughed and said, "Orochimaru—the traitor who used to be in the organization? If I remember correctly, he fled after failing to attack you, Itachi!"
"Don't use your impoverished brain to try to imagine an Uchiha. Any Uchiha who has awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan cannot be judged by common sense!"
Itachi glanced at Hidan and tossed out that sentence before continuing. "Although Uchiha Sheng's teacher was Orochimaru, he had already possessed Jonin-level strength before becoming Orochimaru's disciple. Under Orochimaru, he mainly learned the many types of ninjutsu that Orochimaru and the Third Hokage mastered, making up for his own weaknesses.
"His first famous battle took place during the Second Shinobi World War, on the battlefield between the Land of Wind and the Land of Fire. Twelve-year-old Uchiha Sheng fought the former Granny Chiyo, then an elder adviser of Sunagakure at her peak, to a mutual defeat."
Sasori of the Red Sands spoke up. "I once heard Chiyo mention that battle. At the time, Uchiha Sheng's strength apparently wasn't that great. He had only recently awakened the Sharingan, but his taijutsu was extremely strong. He also had a pet Aoda, a Summoning Beast that even the poison-wielding former Granny Chiyo feared."
"That's right. Although Uchiha Sheng was a powerful member of the Uchiha Clan, he was not initially famous for his Sharingan.
