Mutated Cat

These were ordinary stainless steel cages, filled with shriveled corpses in twos and threes.

Under the high temperature, the bodies quickly rotted, then the muscles were devoured by insects, leaving only sun-dried fur wrapped around the skeletons.

It was obvious that these dried corpses were all felines.

In the outermost cage was the corpse of a medium-sized dog.

It had long black fur, and its breed was indistinguishable, possibly a Husky or a shepherd.

The gaps in the cages were too small for zombie hands to reach, and they were locked from the outside, never having been opened.

This proved the corpses were not damaged by zombies.

Some had steel bars piercing their skulls, others were missing limbs.

The most tragic was a cat in the corner, its body clearly skinned.

Outside the cat cage, there was a pile of foul-smelling fur.

Jiang You also found a camera tripod in the corner, along with a set-up platform covered in blackened bloodstains that looked like they hadn't appeared overnight.

Jiang You then noticed bloodstains around the cat's mouth and, on the ground beside it, several pieces of blackened, chewed meat.

Her pupils contracted, her previously relaxed expression suddenly turning serious.

As if recalling something, she turned and quickly walked to the bodies of the two zombies.

She had initially thought the claw marks on the zombies' clothes were from them scratching each other, but now it didn't seem like it.

Jiang You carefully examined the scratches on the two zombies, noting that the wounds were thin and closely spaced, with three or four scratches together.

They didn't look like zombie scratches, but more like those made by a cat.

She then checked the bodies of the two zombies and found that both had wounds with missing muscle. Combined with the greenish-black meat chunks next to the calico cat, she quickly understood where the missing flesh had gone.

The cat had eaten zombie meat!

It was likely that these two zombies had tried to eat the cat, but had repeatedly had their flesh bitten off by it.
