Seeing him lose an arm, many people felt a sense of satisfaction.
Quite a few of those present had been oppressed by Liu Ping, both openly and subtly.
This guy had initially been somewhat restrained, afraid of inciting public anger.
Ever since joining the Thunder Team, he had become incredibly arrogant, relying on their influence.
Previously, a survivor had accidentally bumped into him while walking, and he had burned the person all over with fire.
Although the survivor didn't die on the spot, such extensive burns, in a situation with virtually no medical care and not even basic sanitation, were practically a death sentence.
As expected, that burned survivor died of pain that very night.
Liu Ping had seemed like a decent, honest man before the apocalypse. No one expected him to be so ruthless!
He couldn't always do as he pleased with his abilities; there were people he couldn't defeat.
But when he encountered someone stronger, he would drag the Thunder Team in to back him up.
Any survivor with functioning ears and eyes knew the strength of the Thunder Team. No one wanted to provoke them over a momentary grievance.
It was precisely because of this that even though Liu Ping acted subservient within the team, it didn't stop him from swaggering in front of ordinary survivors.
As for whether Jiang You would face retaliation from him or the Thunder Team, no one really cared.
"Fire ability users, are they all this hot-tempered?"
Jiang You watched the fireball flying towards her, not dodging, her face devoid of any fear.
She extended her hand, palm open, and faint streams of air gathered from all around into her palm, finally coiling around the flames like a dragon, completely enveloping them.
The charging flames, wrapped by this gentle, yielding airflow, were easily redirected.
It was as if a ferocious beast, stroked by a delicate palm, then calmly lay down.
It was simply unbelievable.
The smug smile on Liu Ping's face froze.
He stared at what was in front of him in disbelief.
The flames that had always inspired fear were being enveloped by something invisible, dancing up and down with the movement of Jiang You's palm, like will-o'-the-wisps in a horror movie.
"This, how is this possible?"
"You, you're an ability user too!"
An ordinary person couldn't control fire like this unless they were also an ability user.
And likely, their ability was superior to his.
But how was that possible?
If she were an ability user, why had no news of her spread?
After all, ability users held a very high status now. Regardless of gender or age, any ability user was highly sought after by countless teams.
Liu Ping refused to believe it and conjured several more fireballs to attack Jiang You.
But without exception, under Jiang You's control, those flames were wrapped by something unseen, hovering before her eyes like ghost fires in a horror movie, flickering up and down, but refusing to attack her.
Jiang You smiled slightly, "If you're so hot-tempered, let's get some wind."
She had been experimenting with new attack methods recently, and Liu Ping showing up was perfect for being a guinea pig.
She had some impression of this woman; she seemed to be the sister of the owner of a fruit shop near the community entrance.
She had seen her helping out in the shop before, and when Jiang You went to buy fruit, the woman had given her an apple.
"How do you want him to die?"
The woman looked at her gaze, "Are you asking me?"
Jiang You nodded.
The woman was stunned for a moment, then scrambled forward a few steps.
"Kill him! I want him to be cut into a thousand pieces, his body completely dismembered!! He killed my sister and my little niece, he pushed them into the zombie horde with his own hands!! Please, help me kill him. If you kill him, I'll give you my life!"
Tears still streaked the woman's face, her expression frantic.
As she spoke, a girl of six or seven carefully walked down the stairs, holding onto the handrail.
She felt her way along the banister, her eyes vacant.
As she descended, she softly called out in a low voice, "Auntie, Auntie, where are you? Auntie..."
Hearing the voice, the woman's head snapped around. She pulled the girl into her arms. Even though her whole body was trembling, she immediately tried to comfort the girl's emotions.
"Abao, I'm here, Auntie is here! Don't be scared!"
She pressed Abao's face into her chest, glaring at Liu Ping with hatred, "Liu Ping, you beast worse than pigs and dogs! May you die a terrible death!!"
"Even if I die, you little slut will die first!!"
Liu Ping glanced at the little girl, then gritted his teeth and, disregarding the child in her arms, threw several fireballs in succession, intending to burn them to death.
But the flames, just like before, were caught by an invisible wind before they could reach the woman.
Liu Ping glared at Jiang You, unable to contain his anger, "You woman, don't go too far! This is a personal vendetta between me and them, what business is it of yours?!"
It was one thing for her to block the flames attacking her, but she even interfered when he was trying to kill others.
"I advise you not to play the saint. I have the entire Thunder Team behind me. Even if you're powerful and I can't beat you, we have plenty of people on our team. Who do you think you are?! There are countless grudges in this world, can you manage them all?"
"I see you're also an ability user. How about this: I'll let go of the matter of you breaking my arm for now. I'll introduce you to the Thunder Team, and we'll share the spoils and drinks together in the future! As for this woman, she's just an ordinary person. Ordinary people's lives are worthless! It's already the apocalypse, and grudges don't distinguish right from wrong, only who has the bigger fist. I'm an ability user, I'm powerful, so I'm the one wielding the knife! Since she's weak, she should obediently be like fish on a chopping block! Survival of the fittest is the most fundamental truth!"
Liu Ping stared ferociously at the woman, "People like you, lowly and humble ordinary people, should just obediently go die!"
Jiang You sneered upon hearing this. "I don't care about the right or wrong of your grudges, I'm not a judge. But today, I just don't like what I'm seeing. What can you do about it?"
