Ch. 458Give This World a Smile

Lu Xin and Kid confronted Qin Ran’s rapidly growing Flesh Monster Tree as it attacked them with vines that spread the pain and despair of its victims. Lu Xin let the contamination overwhelm him, then chose to smile at the monster as he endured it.

  • Lu Xin spotted Qin Ran’s Flesh Monster Tree absorbing people and transforming them into blood-red figures that cried that Kid had harmed them.
  • Lu Xin called Kid to his side, confirmed Queen was calling for help, and advanced toward her through the damaged Museum of Calamities.
  • Qin Ran sent dozens of vine-borne figures toward Kid, so Lu Xin shielded her and used his Twisted Force Field to hold them back.
  • The figures’ faces grew across Lu Xin’s body and flooded him with their hosts’ despair, grief, and other suffering.
  • Lu Xin stopped repelling the figures, drew their pain into himself, and smiled at the Flesh Monster Tree.

Ch. 459Let the World Begin to Hate

Qin Ran’s attempt to overwhelm Lu Xin with pain from the Museum of Calamities failed when Lu Xin absorbed the suffering without breaking. After Kid saw Lu Xin endure the attacks and hugged him, she unleashed her hatred on Qin Ran, making the surrounding world turn against him.

  • Qin Ran sent the Museum of Calamities’ pain and misfortune into Lu Xin, but Lu Xin showed no distress and smiled.
  • Kid sensed Lu Xin taking the attacks meant for her, hugged him, and cried as he felt renewed vitality.
  • Lu Xin pulled the retreating humanoid fruits back with his force field and told Kid it was time to work.
  • Kid opened her parasol, flew toward Qin Ran’s Flesh Monster Tree, and declared that she would beat him to death.
  • Kid’s hatred made the surrounding mental forces attack Qin Ran, tearing apart the Flesh Monster Tree and its vines.

Ch. 460Two Monsters

Lu Xin and Kid defeated Qin Ran’s Flesh Monster Tree, then crossed the collapsing psychic world to find Queen trapped beneath a dome and being drained by a gigantic cross-shaped man. Queen begged Lu Xin to save her, leaving him to face the Technological Church’s brutal experiment.

  • Qin Ran used the Flesh Monster Tree to attack Lu Xin, but Kid’s ability turned its vines against it while Lu Xin endured the transmitted pain.
  • Qin Ran abandoned the tree and escaped as its vines and humanoid fruits scattered; Lu Xin stopped Kid from pursuing him.
  • Kid’s power surged as the false world collapsed, clearing a path for Lu Xin and Kid through the subdued Sleepwalkers.
  • Lu Xin followed Queen’s faint cries to the mountains behind Happy Town and found her trapped inside a huge dome of light.
  • Lu Xin saw Queen nailed to a gigantic cross-shaped man whose vessels and nerves drained her, and Queen pleaded with him to save her.

Ch. 461Mental Authority (First Update)

Lu Xin tried to intervene as the Archbishop of Calamity merged with Queen of Happy Town, but attacking the cocoon worsened Queen’s suffering and the foreigner began controlling the town’s mental radiation. Elsewhere, Qin Ran’s copies killed one another as they tried to reach a motorhome, where an old man explained that the monster had once been severely polluted.

  • Lu Xin sent an Infiltrator to report the scene and investigate the Technological Church’s purpose, then tested the cocoon with Kid’s mental attack and discovered it hurt Queen.
  • The blue-eyed man awakened and used the face emerging from his chest to scream, rousing the sleepwalkers and driving Happy Town’s mental radiation toward Lu Xin and Kid.
  • Kid held back the sleepwalkers and the advancing radiation, while Lu Xin realized the Archbishop of Calamity could control the mental force surrounding Happy Town.
  • Qin Ran reached the motorhome, but successive versions of himself shot or stabbed one another before one finally entered.
  • Inside the motorhome, the surviving Qin Ran asked what kind of monster was pursuing them, and the old man said it had once been severely polluted.

Ch. 462The Backlash Arrives (Second Update)

Lu Xin tried to find a way to save the Queen as the old man advised Qin Ran and the others to destabilize the mental-radiation field. The resulting backlash overwhelmed Kid with surging mental power, leaving her in danger of shattering.

  • Qin Ran told the old man and the Technological Church priest that he had failed to stop Lu Xin and Kid, while the old man explained that Lu Xin was a Zero Ability User and Kid had mental domination.
  • The old man told Qin Ran and the priest to open the field, and the priest pressed a red button despite his hesitation.
  • Lu Xin considered how to free the Queen from the Archbishop of Calamity without harming her, then noticed silver cylinders rising from the ground and shutting off their red lights.
  • The cylinders' shutdown destabilized the mental-radiation field, and the Archbishop of Calamity began draining the Queen through blood vessels.
  • The released mental power surged toward Kid, whose body cracked like porcelain as she struggled under the backlash.

Ch. 463The Purpose of the Technological Church (Four Thousand Words)

Lu Ran realized Kid was close to losing control under the burden of the chaotic mental power around her, while Qinggang struggled to uncover the Technological Church’s Gospel Plan. Professor Bai warned that making Kid release the power would advance the Queen’s parasitic ritual and unleash Mental Monsters, then asked to speak directly with Chen Jing.

  • Lu Ran shielded Kid with his distorted force field and sent an Infiltrator to Qinggang for help as he recognized her danger of losing control.
  • Chen Jing organized Lu Ran’s reports on the Technological Church’s plans and urgently forwarded them to Qinggang headquarters.
  • Professor Chen and the researchers inferred that the Flower of Death, the Sin of Greed, and the Mental Fortress were connected parts of the Gospel Plan.
  • After learning Kid was about to lose control, Professor Chen ordered Qinggang to tell her to release a full-power mental shockwave and abandon the mission.
  • Professor Bai arrived and warned that Kid’s shockwave would help the Technological Church parasitize the Queen and could create countless Mental Monsters in the wilderness.
  • Professor Bai asked to be connected to Chen Jing so he could speak to her directly.

Ch. 464We Were Right Outside, So Rest Easy (Fourth Update)

Lu Xin learned that saving Kid required her to release the mental radiation the Technological Church planned to exploit, risking a disaster across the region. Chen Jing told him Qinggang’s team was ready to handle the consequences and urged him to protect Kid first.

  • As Lu Xin held Kid inside the S-rank restricted zone, her suffering worsened and she neared collapse.
  • In the RV, Qin Ran and the Technological Priest questioned the scale of the mental power and the identity of the man delaying the process, while the old man said some things required time.
  • An Infiltrator delivered Chen Jing’s recorded briefing, explaining that the Technological Church planned to use Kid to unleash mental radiation, draw out abyssal monsters, and take control of them.
  • Chen Jing explained that Kid could be saved only by releasing the mental power, but doing so could turn the area around Happy Town into a haven for Mental Monsters and threaten Qinggang.
  • Chen Jing told Lu Xin that Qinggang’s support team and researchers were ready, and urged him to have Kid release a mental shock toward the west so they could deal with the consequences.

Ch. 465The Feeling of Happiness (Part One)

Lu Xin helped Kid understand that she needed to send her psychic power away, and she unleashed it in a massive wave toward the west. The surge raced toward Qinggang as Chen Jing, Gecko, and Troublemaker Kid fled, leaving the city's ability to withstand it uncertain.

  • Chen Jing told Lu Xin that Qinggang had chosen to release Kid's psychic power and bear the pressure this would place on the outside world.
  • Lu Xin told Kid to send her psychic power outward, then patiently explained how to make it leave her.
  • Kid gathered her strength and released the surrounding psychic power toward the west, unleashing a vast wave that tore across the wasteland.
  • At Happy Town, the old man told Qin Ran that the Gospel Plan's spread depended on whether Qinggang could withstand the wave.
  • Chen Jing, Gecko, and Troublemaker Kid fled in vehicles as the towering dark-red psychic torrent surged after them.

Ch. 466Crimson Hell (Second Update)

Chen Jing and Gecko raced to the thirty-kilometer line as the mental turbulence from Happy Town crushed the wilderness and spawned Mental Monsters. Minister Shen and the Qinggang troops stopped its advance with a massive electric net, though the turbulence still pressed against their defenses.

  • Chen Jing and Gecko fled west with Troublemaker Kid as the dark crimson mental turbulence engulfed the abandoned camp behind them.
  • The turbulence swallowed armed personnel who had been lured away, crushing some and transforming others into Mental Monsters.
  • Chen Jing and Gecko reached the designated thirty-kilometer position as the spreading turbulence nearly caught them.
  • Minister Shen arrived with Qinggang troops and ordered the plasma bombs detonated beneath the line of lime powder.
  • The explosions formed a vast electric net that blocked the mental turbulence.

Ch. 467Clear the Area with Firepower If Possible, Use Firepower (Third Update)

Chen Jing reached Qinggang’s forces and reported that dozens of powerful Mental Monsters and hundreds of people had been swallowed by the mental turbulence. Minister Shen ordered the overclocked ion cannons to fire, and the chapter ended with the weapons blasting apart the approaching monsters and clearing the turbulence.

  • Chen Jing and Gecko were swept down by the arc net, then support teams rescued them and carried them to the military trucks.
  • Chen Jing told Minister Shen that hundreds of people were trapped in the turbulence and that more than thirty Mental Monsters had exceptionally high mental levels.
  • Minister Shen explained that Professor Bai’s ion-weapon research and Su’s order had enabled Qinggang to advance, and he declared the force would stop the turbulence and destroy the threats outside the walls.
  • As the arc nets began to fail and a giant clown-like Mental Monster reached the cordon, Minister Shen ordered the overclocked ion cannons prepared.
  • Minister Shen ordered the cannons to fire, and their beams tore through the clown monster and erased sections of the dark-red turbulence while flame-tailed weapons struck the wilderness.

Ch. 468The Mental Lord (Part One)

Lu Xin emerged from the mental turbulence after Kid cleared the surrounding radiation, and Han Bing relayed that the Archbishop of Calamity was pursuing the Fourth Stage: becoming a Mental Lord. With Queen’s resistance weakening inside the cocoon, Lu Xin asked Han Bing for advice on how to reach the Archbishop.

  • Qinggang’s forces advanced through the wilderness and cleared mental turbulence and Mental Monsters with coordinated troops and special weapons.
  • The old man told Qin Ran that he should ask the Archbishop of Calamity and his opponent whether the plan would succeed.
  • Lu Xin woke as artillery fire calmed the chaos, and Kid fell into his arms after losing the ability to fly without mental power.
  • Han Bing reconnected with Lu Xin and reported that Professor Bai’s analysis identified the Archbishop of Calamity’s goal as reaching the Fourth Stage, the Mental Lord.
  • Lu Xin saw that Queen was more deeply entangled in the cross as her resistance weakened, while the Archbishop watched him from inside the cocoon of light.
  • Lu Xin told Han Bing that the Archbishop would not come out of the cocoon and asked whether she had a way to deal with him.

Ch. 469Enter the Bottle Voluntarily (Second Update)

Lu Xin learned that the Archbishop of Calamity needed the Museum of Calamities, Happy Town's Queen, and himself to become a Mental Lord, so destroying any one of them would foil his plan. Unable to find the museum itself, Lu Xin proposed entering its bottle voluntarily to get closer to its main body.

  • Han Bing explained that the Archbishop of Calamity planned to use the Museum of Calamities and Queen to become a Mental Lord, and that destroying any one of the three would stop him.
  • Lu Xin examined the Archbishop inside the cocoon of light and decided not to break it, since doing so might help the parasitism or harm Queen.
  • Lu Xin chose the Museum of Calamities as his target because the other two options were unavailable.
  • Han Bing explained that Lu Xin had only experienced the museum's radiation and destroyed its exhibits, not the museum itself.
  • Lu Xin suggested that he could get close to the museum's main body by voluntarily entering its bottle, leaving Han Bing stunned.

Ch. 470Mental Trait Replication Ability (Third Update)

Lu Xin used the 12-tier Rubik’s Cube to copy the sleepwalkers’ connection to the Museum of Calamities, hoping to enter it as a collectible. The copied trait concealed him and Kid from the Archbishop of Calamity, leaving the Archbishop terrified as Lu Xin approached the museum.

  • Lu Xin told Professor Bai that he planned to enter the Museum of Calamities by copying the trait of its sleepwalking collectibles with the 12-tier Rubik’s Cube.
  • Lu Xin went into the wilderness with Kid, found a dazed old man, and used the cube to replicate the man’s connection to the museum.
  • The cube’s trait spread over Lu Xin, disguising his mental fluctuations and making Kid appear to him as the old man.
  • The Archbishop of Calamity watched Lu Xin and Kid vanish from his perception and panicked, unable to understand what he had encountered.

Ch. 471True and False (Part One)

Lu Xin entered the Museum of Calamities’ bottle world, where it tried to trade his painful memories for false happiness. He refused, and the town’s dreamlike prosperity vanished, revealing the suffering souls beneath it.

  • Lu Xin recognized the town as the world inside the bottle and saw that the old man’s family, including Kid, was part of his dreamlike life.
  • The town opened eyes in the sky and drew on Lu Xin’s mental power, forcing buried memories to surface as he walked through the town.
  • Lu Xin saw memories of Mom, his father, Sister, the girl in the wheelchair, Little Nineteen, and Old Director, and greeted Old Director before moving on.
  • The Museum of Calamities offered to take Lu Xin’s painful memories in exchange for happiness, but he refused to surrender what was real to him.
  • The town’s people and false scenery disappeared, revealing isolated souls suffering amid ruined shops and bleak surroundings.

Ch. 472What Can Be Given to the Unfortunate (Part Two)

Lu Xin confronted the Archbishop of Calamity’s use of suffering souls as a source of power and offered them sincere sympathy, breaking the spell that kept them numb. As the souls began to cry and the museum’s power faltered, the Archbishop abandoned his parasitic ritual and sent his nerves and blood vessels into an ancient museum model.

  • Lu Xin recognized that the souls gathered in the town powered the Museum of Calamities and were being used by the Archbishop of Calamity.
  • Lu Xin resisted the urge to attack the crowd and told them that their suffering had been exploited, offering them his sympathy.
  • A woman who had lost her husband began to cry, and her grief spread through the crowd until many souls were weeping and the town’s synchronized ritual broke down.
  • The Archbishop of Calamity sensed that the museum’s power was changing and abandoned the parasitic ritual in the Queen’s body.
  • The Archbishop sent his nerves and blood vessels into an ancient museum model hidden inside a black box in the ruined Happy Town.

Ch. 473People Contaminated by a God (Third Update)

Lu Xin confronted the Archbishop of Calamity as the false town collapsed, and his black particles began turning the archbishop’s tendrils to ash. In the motorhome, the old man revealed that Lu Xin had once been contaminated by a god, but had gained the ability to feel sympathy.

  • Four enormous crosses appeared around the collapsing town, and the Archbishop of Calamity used tendrils to attack Lu Xin and Kid.
  • Lu Xin stopped Kid from fighting and faced the archbishop himself, saying that he intended to destroy him rather than contaminate the town.
  • As the archbishop’s tendrils overwhelmed Lu Xin’s force field, black particles emerged from his body and turned the tendrils he touched to ash.
  • Lu Xin seized a retreating tendril and used it to charge toward one of the crosses.
  • In the motorhome, the technopriest reported that the archbishop was rapidly weakening, and the old man told Qin Ran that a god had contaminated Lu Xin before he was cured and gained sympathy.

Ch. 474Mental Lord

Lu Xin destroyed the eastern and northern crosses, but the Archbishops of Calamity resurrected and surrounded him with crosses, black flowers, and memory-piercing thorns. Trapped in their mental world, Lu Xin asked the Lord of Calamity what he meant by bestowing calamity upon him.

  • Lu Xin used Sister's power to smash through the eastern cross and destroy the Archbishop of Calamity on it.
  • Lu Xin charged through the town and destroyed the northern cross despite its efforts to reshape the roads and buildings.
  • The Archbishops of Calamity made the town's suffering residents bloom into black flowers and resurrected the eastern and northern crosses.
  • More crosses fell around the town as the Archbishops declared that calamity was inescapable and trapped Lu Xin among memory-piercing black thorns.
  • Lu Xin tore through the thorns, but they regrew around him, and the Lord of Calamity claimed control over all mental power in his world.
  • Lu Xin stood amid the thorns and asked the Lord of Calamity if he was talking about bestowing something upon him.

Ch. 475No One Could Give Orders in Front of Me

Lu Xin resisted the Archbishop of Calamity’s attack, destroyed the Museum of Calamities, and released the people and objects trapped inside. As the wilderness was overwhelmed by the resulting spiritual force, Lu Xin stood laughing uncontrollably.

  • The Archbishop of Calamity used the Museum’s thorns to dredge up Lu Xin’s painful memories, but Lu Xin declared that no one could give orders in front of him.
  • Lu Xin’s power stripped away the Museum’s illusory world and turned its black thorns against the Archbishop of Calamity, overwhelming him with despair.
  • The Archbishop of Calamity withdrew his spiritual tentacles from the cocoon of light, convulsing and fleeing in terror as the Museum of Calamities was destroyed.
  • The Museum’s destruction released millions of trapped items and people into the wilderness, where a heartbeat shattered their bottles and flooded the area with spiritual force.
  • Queen’s cocoon of light shattered, freeing her, while Lu Xin remained beside the old man, laughing and trembling amid the spiritual fallout.

Ch. 476Their Answer (Two-in-One)

Lu Xin emerged from his loss of control after destroying the Museum of Calamities, while the Queen killed the fleeing Archbishop of Calamity. Professor Wang explained that the catastrophe had been an experiment testing Lu Xin, Qinggang, and Calamity, then left Qinggang a reward as he departed.

  • Lu Xin lost himself in violent power, but a calm voice and Kid’s reflection in his eyes helped him regain control; he carefully shaped his face into a smile before returning to the wilderness.
  • Lu Xin found Kid muddy and frightened, then saw the Queen kill the Archbishop of Calamity with a mental tentacle.
  • In the RV, Professor Wang told Qin Ran that the Archbishop had failed an experiment and that he could have mastered calamity if he had understood it rather than treating it as power.
  • Professor Wang graded Qinggang as passing, the child as a full-mark success, and Calamity as a failure, then threw Qinggang’s reward documents outside the RV.
  • Professor Wang said the experiment’s findings could help the Research Institute, Qinggang, and other factions pursue a new Mental Lord, then silently remembered the Dean.

Ch. 477Friendly Queen

After the Museum of Calamities was destroyed, Lu Xin secured the Queen’s agreement to let Qinggang’s support team enter Happy Town and learned that the Technological Church still had fugitives at large. As the Queen agreed to communicate with Qinggang after a month, she specifically refused to speak with Lu Xin, leaving Chen Jing wondering what he had done to her.

  • Lu Xin told Han Bing that the Queen and the Archbishop of Calamity were still fighting, then got the Queen’s permission for the support team to enter Happy Town.
  • The support team arrived, examined Lu Xin, and began investigating the ruins; Lu Xin promised the seven little monsters he would reimburse their fees through headquarters.
  • Chen Jing reported that at least three Technological Church members had escaped in an RV whose tracks vanished, and Lu Xin recalled seeing the Old Director in an illusion inside the museum.
  • A support team member said the Queen accepted food and agreed to communicate with Qinggang after resting for a month, but insisted that anyone except Lu Xin handle the talks.
  • Chen Jing asked what Lu Xin had done to the Queen, and he replied that he had saved her life.
