Gazing at the old buildings beneath the Crimson Moon outside the car window, Lu Xin let out a long sigh of relief.
After more than four days of travel, Lu Xin and his convoy had finally returned to Qinggang.
The return trip had taken another day or two longer than the journey there, but there had been no helping it. After all, Gecko had driven on the way there, while on the way back, everyone—including Mizang—had driven one vehicle each. Their driving skills varied, so to prevent anyone from falling behind, they had to slow down a little. Then they had driven for several days straight. Aside from Gecko, everyone's butt hurt...
Fortunately, Han Bing had contacted Qinggang in advance. Since this support mission was extremely important, people sent by Qinggang had come to receive them long ago. They had not enjoyed such treatment when leaving Black Marsh City, but they had certainly enjoyed it on the way back.
A helicopter to pick them up and a military escort were nothing special. Having someone else drive their cars was what mattered most.
After a simple inspection, the off-road vehicles they had "accidentally" picked up were sent by Chen Jing's people to the buildings where they lived.
As for the group of them, they went to headquarters to give their report as usual.
Since Han Bing had prepared the mission report in advance, the briefing was very simple. They went through the motions, then returned for leave according to their usual routine. Headquarters had originally prepared a celebration banquet, but the entire group declined in unspoken agreement.
Their butts really hurt.
Gecko was the first to leave. Before going, he solemnly asked Lu Xin several questions:
