Northlands Power (IV)

The dragon's flesh had the Corland Nobles thrilled and excited, but Ryan sat in his seat, silent for a long time.

Two people sat beside him. One was Garick Gailan.

The other was a woman from the Corland Kingdom's royal family.

During Ryan's previous conflict with Grand Duke Meyers, he had used Clayton's bloodline to strike back at Meyers's attacks on his reputation. This had caught the attention of the King of Corland, and so this royal princess had come to Frozen Earth Territory.

Even Garick had not expected that the person who had remained silent within that royal carriage was actually a woman.

He was somewhat acquainted with her—Gwendoria Corland.

Ryan looked at Borgeld with displeasure. The latter wore an innocent expression. Oh, Legion Commander Borgeld had not noticed Lord Ryan's gaze at all and was wolfing down the dragon's hind leg.

His fingers lightly tapped the tabletop as the steward Beard stepped forward from behind him.

"Miss Gwendoria, Lady Avril has invited you."

This princess of the Corland Kingdom was a somewhat aloof woman. Royal women could hardly be unattractive. Hearing Beard's words, she seemed slightly surprised before smiling at Ryan.

"Mr. Ryan, Doria truly isn't accustomed to this sort of banquet."

The dragon meat was tempting, but she could not gorge herself before the nobles. This dragon flesh was far too chewy to be digested through delicate bites.

After the woman left, Ryan finally looked at his student.

"What is the King of Corland thinking?"

"I don't know either. His Majesty and my father haven't communicated for quite some time."

Garick helplessly spread his hands. The greatest political struggle within the Corland Kingdom now stemmed from the conflict between the King and the Grand Duke.

His father had begun to guard against Ryan largely for this reason.
