Viking's return caught everyone by surprise.
Volvo and Floyd appeared before the third Elector at the same time.
"Why are you here?"
"His Majesty ordered you into exile. You should be on some island in the West Sea, not on the Empire's soil."
Viking looked grief-stricken. He shook his head with a bitter smile.
"I came to attend His Majesty the Emperor's funeral. You needn't worry. Are you afraid of me?"
Viking looked the two Electors in the eye. Volvo snorted, while Floyd's smile was edged with anger.
Of the Empire's three Electors in this generation, Viking stood apart for one obvious reason: he was too perfect. If not for that vision of his, he would have been the clear choice for the next emperor.
Volvo and Floyd were not exactly afraid of him, but they were wary. That much was real, even though Viking no longer had any chance of becoming emperor.
"His Majesty exiled you. Who gave you permission to return?"
Viking straightened his back and faced the two older Electors, speaking with righteous conviction.
"Columbus's blood runs through my veins. Today, I am here as his son to mourn my father."
"Hmph!"
Volvo swept his sleeves and left. He knew better than to get tangled up with Viking over this. Only Floyd and Viking remained in the modest house.
"I'd say you're pleased," Floyd said with a cold laugh.
Then he struck without warning. Legendary power gathered between his palms, and his exquisite control warped the very air in his grip. What he had not expected was for Viking to be just as strong.
Silver Radiance burst from Viking's body. Amid the dazzling light, he met Floyd with graceful martial technique. Their fighting strength was evenly matched.
Even in the extraordinary realm, the perfect Elector's skill was
